Explanation of generic Avatars

Post by Sloop » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:32 am

Many of the posters here do not use a custom avatar. The generic one is a circle with a small image of "text" in the middle. I have figured out what red and blue and the one with a Star means ...... but so far, I have no clue what the scrolling text means. Is there anywhere on the Forum that explains it?

Scrolling text means there are new posts -- nonscrolling means no new posts.

Actually the scrolling text denotes 25 or more replies.

The small colored rectangle between the avatar and title signifies new posts.

I really wish the would use the generic avatar in addition to the custom avatar. It would help me to know if I participated previously in a topic. And when I read this forum with my ipod touch, I have no mouse, so I can't hover over the avatar to see if says new posts or no new posts.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I don't think that's exactly what she meant, Sheriff.

But I understand your confusion, since I at first assumed her lovely avatar might explain the statement that . . .

I don't think the cute kitty will ever catch a mouse. She does like to watch squirrels, but her vision isn't the greatest.

I really thinks it is helpful to look for my own avatar to see if there are posts for a topic I started. But it would also be nice to see the red/blue generic symbols NEXT to the avatar. Then anybody could see at a glance whether they have participated in a topic. And they would know if the topic had new posts or not. When I read at work on my lunch, I can't tell if a post with a photo avatar has new posts or not. I try to go for topics I have participated in first since I have less time to read on my lunch.
