CPAP repairs

Post by sharlan » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:28 pm

I have a 6 yr old REMstart that has developed a high pitched squeal. My husband took it in and they told him that it was a bearing going out and couldn't be repaired. My ins paid for a new one, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not it could be repaired. I would love to have a spare so that when I travel I wouldn't have to drag my new one around and risk breaking or losing it.

Anything that can be made can be repaired. Its just a matter of cost. Find someone who is very mechanically minded who happens to have a machine shop in their garage and see if they can fix it. Another choice is find one that had lighting damage and use its motor.

I think you will may a lot of money for a repair and then you will still have a 6 year old unit. If you want a spare look at Craigslist in your area or go to secondwindcpap.com.

If you would like, you can give Dennis Thorne a call at our company and see what he thinks. I know we have a few cpaps in stock that you could purchase if a repair wouldn't work for you. He's in our Missouri operation today (July 13th) 800-376-5660. He will be in our Indiana repair facility next week 765-478-9400.
