Finally Happy
Finally Happy
I started on the CPAP about 6 months ago. I was given a Mirage Quatro full face mask and it seemed OK at first. At first means I knew nothing about what to expect. After 2-3 months I was getting a lot of leaks and not happy with the way the mask fit. I hurt my nose and left red marks that lasted hours. I tried the band aid and liners but all that was to much to screw with. I trialed a couple masks and on my third try I trialed a Swift FX. I loved it and have to admit I kept it for an extra week. I did not want to send it back. Well I am now 6 months into the thearpy and my insurance replaces my mask and everything else except the machine so I now have my own Swift FX nasal mask. For those that dont think they can use a nasal mask because they have a hard time breathing thru their nose I highly suggest the nasal pillows. When I had my sleep study they tried a nasal mask first and I could not breath so they went with a fulll face. I just wish they would have tried the pillow mask then. I feel like I lost 6 months of sleep. My leaks are almost gone and my AHI's the last two nights have been .5 and.3. Thats a huge difference from the Quattro mask.

Re: Finally Happy
It's always happy news to hear someone has found their go-to mask! I've been pretty happy with the Aloha nasal pillow mask but have been wanting to try the Swift FX. Think I might have fewer leak issues. Anyway, I'm happy for you!

I have the Swift FX and have always wanted to try the Aloha But when I got my "stuff" the DME said they didn't carry the Aloha and that is why I ended up with the Swift!Suzjohnson wrote:It's always happy news to hear someone has found their go-to mask! And as jlhog pointed out, it was because of the entries by the members here that I knew enough to ask for the FX!
Thanks all!

Life sure does get better after you find a mask that works. In my case, that was the Swift LT. I keep trying other masks hoping to find something even better, but for the past 3 years, the Swift LT is still my best friend. I tried the FX but couldn't get it to work on my face. I did, however, like how light it is. If there was plastic surgery that could make my face fit the FX, I'd get in line for it right now.
Best of luck, and I hope you stay in the groove with the FX.

Wouldn't it be great if masks could be custom-made for patients -- a dentist takes impressions of the inside of a patient's mouth in order to make a custom-fit night guard, and it seems like it should be possible to custom-fit the seal portion of masks to individual patients' faces using some kind of impression-taking methodology. Oh, the hassles and money that would save!

Re: Finally Happy
That sure sounds expensive. The masks are already way over priced for what you get.
