Changing parameters on the System One
Can the MD change the parameters so it counts the apneic at Different time lengths? For example, it's my understanding the machine will count an apneic event if it lasts longer than 10 seconds. Can the MD change the time to let's say 20 seconds so that the machine will only count an event that is longer than 20 seconds?
Re: Changing parameters on the System One
Not to my knowledge.

Re: Changing parameters on the System One
This has been edited to correct an error that I made because I got how the Flow Restriction setting worked backwards.

If you want to have both the long hypopneas and the long apneas flagged, you would need to set the Flow Restriction to something like 50%.
The Custom User Event Flagging set up is in the Preferences Panel under the CPAP tab. It's on the right hand side of the panel.
While there is no way change the way the System One flags events, JediMark has provided a software option in SleepyHead called "Custom User Event Flagging" where the user can choose both the decrease in airflow and the event duration time for an event to be scored. So---if you set the decrease in airflow (Flow Restriction) to something like 80-100% and set the event duration time to 20 seconds, SH should flag those apneas lasting longer than 20 seconds. THIS INFO IS INCORRECT! According to Sleepy Head documentation, the Flow Restriction setting is how much the current flow is compared to the baseline. Since most CPAP machines use an 80% drop in flow as the "apnea threshold", you want to set the Flow Restriction to 20% if you turn this feature on for detecting apneas of a certain length. This is documented in a pop up panel in SleepyHead:michael1962 wrote:Can the MD change the parameters so it counts the apneic at Different time lengths? Re: Changing parameters on the System One
ROBYSUE, I AM RUNNING SH ON A MACBOOK PRO AND I CAN NOT FIND WHERE YOU SAY THE "CUSTOMER USER EVENT" TAB IS ANY WHERE . NO CPAP TAB IN SIGHT ANY WHERE...DOES THE MAC VERSION NOT INCLUDE SOME OF THE THINGS THE WINDOWS VERSION DOES. I CAN TRY IMPORTING SH ON THE VIRTUAL WINDOWS PROGRAM I GUESS BUT WOULD IT BE DIFFERENT?

Re: Changing parameters on the System One
The custom event stuff is here..See screen shot. Windows OS and SleepyHead Beta version with the one update it has had.
I think Robysue uses a Mac but not sure so I would assume she wouldn't mention it if she hadn't seen it.
I don't know if fiddling with these settings will alter the main flagged events but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.
I don't have the time right now to experiment but someone else is sure welcome to try it.

Re: Changing parameters on the System One
As Pugsy said, I use SH on both a Mac and a PC. Here are several screen shots from my Mac that should help you find the appropriate panel.grybeard77 wrote:Can not get any thing like that on my Mac, any where...I have clicked on ever button, icon or what ever and still nothing like that so assume it's a windows thing...
First you need to launch SleepyHead and put the pointer on the Main Menu for SleepyHead, which is located at the top left hand corner of the Macintosh screen and is labeled SleepyHead. Click the mouse to select Preferences of this menu. This menu with the Preferences item selected is shown in the following image:

When you select Preferences from the SleepyHead menu, a Preferences Panel should come up right smack in the middle of the SleepyHead window. Initially the Import tab will be selected. You want to move the mouse over one tab to the CPAP tab and click. The panel should change to the CPAP Panel and things should now look like this:

Once you are here, the Custom User Event Flagging settings is on the left side of the pop up panel. A close up of the panel looks very similar to the one posted by Pugsy in her post. There are some pop up bubbles that can be viewed if you move the mouse "just right". These provide some important information about using this feature of SleepyHead.
First, there's a general usage popup:

The major point of this pop up is to tell the user that this has to be inabled before importing the data. If you already have downloaded data into SleepyHead, you may have to purge that data and re-download it before the custom event flagging is turned on.
Second, there's a pop up for the Flow Limitation box that looks like this:

According to this box, you want to use 20% in order to get a good "apnea threshold". (I incorrectly thought the setting should be 80% in my previous post. I'll edit that post when I finish this one.)

Re: Changing parameters on the System One
I'll give it a whirl starting tomorrow. Since I don't always have long events, I might not know the answer until a few days have passed.Pugsy wrote: I don't know if fiddling with these settings will alter the main flagged events but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.
I don't have the time right now to experiment but someone else is sure welcome to try it.
And enjoy your family's visit Pugsy!
