I am new at this.Do you just not use the machine when you can't breathe through your nose?
I am going to a meeting locally on the 17th of Jan. of sleep apnea sufferers. I haven't talked to many people with sleep apnea found most are men, have found one woman and she doesn't use it. Can't get much info.Glad to have found this site.
I use the comfort classic nose mask, and seem to be adjusting to it.I sleep on my stomach most nights, can't fall asleep easily on my back.
I have the common problem of marks on my face, one that I think is permanent,I put bandaids on my face to help. What a ritual before bedtime!!
I have the passover humidifier and have gone 4 days without it when I was on a trip.Had no problems.
It is so nice to read what problems other hoseheads(funny) have.
I am going to add to this, since I seem to be having trouble replying to the answers I have received.I don't know what I am doing wrong.
After 2 nights with hardly any sleep, the CoricidinHBP did not help me at all with the nasal congestion,I think I have the solution.Someone suggests that I use a full face mask so I can breathe through my mouth.
I am going today to try on different sizes, and buy one myself.Hope I get a good nights sleep tonight.
Well,I think I slept a little. The full face mask is bulkier and I'm not used to it yet,but at least I could breathe through my mouth.
I had trouble adjusting for leakage, etc. And it is noisier.

Wearing CPAP when the Nose is Stuffed
When I have a cold I can usually control the nose stuffiness with OTC drugs, nasal sprays, antihistamines and decongestents. Seems to work well. Also using a heated humidifier helps to keep the sinuses working correctly. A few times I didn't wear the CPAP and to me the tiredness isn't worth it.
Good Luck
