Going forward

Post by truckee147 » Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:16 pm

Well 15days in and doing well with the mask for sleep. Tough to get to sleep but am getting a solid 5 hours of sleep and have more energy than in a couple f years.

I have been looking at my info and it appears to say my ahi is averaging 4.5.

I see many comments by folks tracking their therapy using software. Should I be doing this and what is the best software. Does it connect to my cpap unit? Thanks

your older m series remstar uses the older data card that is credit card size. if this is correct i have no idea where you would get a card reader . i have no idea if modern encore software would read it if you find a reader and what data you would get. i don't think it will work with sleepyhead. most of us have the newer machines that has a postage stamp sized sd card similar to alot of camera cards.

Maybe I am saying the wrong machine. I do have a small card which I recently sent to the rental company ad they sent it back to me. I guess I will check with them as to a report from it. Are there people out there sleeping a full 8 hours on the hose? Tks

Sure there are. I do and would do get 8 hours every night if it wasn't for the dogs waking me up.

Your profile shows a M Series machine. Those machines use a smart card which looks like this.

to gather data to use with the software. It does require a card reader and this is the only one that works
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... r-USB.html
Best price I have found on the internet is $40 from another online supplier.
If you do have the M Series machine you can use the Encore software to view your reports.
Encore Viewer 2.0 will work but it won't install on 64 bit computers. Encore Pro will work and there are 32 and 64 bit versions. EncoreBasic will also work with the M series machines. A much smaller version of Encore Pro without losing any of the reports. Encore Viewer is the only product available for sale. Encore Pro and Encore Basic are geared more for DME and doctors offices but it can be found if you know where to look. Send me a private message if you want more information on those software products.

SleepyHead won't work with the Smart card machines. It only works with SD cards.
So if you do indeed have the M Series machine (discontinued in winter of 2009) and not the PR System One machine then you are stuck with Encore.

The onscreen data on Respironics machines is a limited 7/30 day AHI average. There is much more data available.
If you check my signature there is a link for Respironics machine software options. I have examples of the detailed data reports from Encore in that post.

Hi,

If you purchased a new machine in the last year or two, then you would most likely have either a PR System One or a S9. Since you appear to be renting, then all bets are off for what age machine you might have gotten. A new BiPAP machine runs about $1,750 and should last 5 years. That means that if you are paying more than $30 per month on rent, then it would probably be cheaper to buy a new machine outright.

Both of my machines use the older smart card rather than the newer SD memory card. As I recall, I paid about $125 for a package with the software and card reader. Unfortunately, my two machines each take a different type of card reader and different software. The modern machines with the SD memory card can be read by any computer or card reader, and you can get the Sleepy Head software for free.
