Irony
Irony
Last night I talked about how my first-week struggles were partially compensated for by the joy my inner geek took in the shiny tech, SleepyHead graphs, and so forth, then wrote "would gladly forgo the techno-euphoria in return for a nice boring reliable solution".
This morning I woke up after eight hours' fairly solid sleep, and the S9 said I had an AHI of 5.5 -- not the best I've done, but the best I've done on a night where I slept for more than five hours. So I eagerly went to get the SD card and look at the details in SleepyHead, and found that I hadn't actually clicked it all the way in to the machine!
Be careful what you wish for!
(To all those powers inside and outside my head who may be listening, I haven't reached the boring reliable part yet. I'm still way more tired than I want to be, and I need those graphs to get all the way there. Thank you.)

Re: Irony
I really hate it when I do that! The good news, though, is that all is not lost. When you put the card back in the machine, it'll download the event flags, AHI, pressure, leak and snore data. You'll be missing the flow rate, tidal volume, and rest of the minute-by-minute stuff, most of which I don't look at on a regular basis anyway.
So go get your data!

Bummer. Don't you just hate it when you realize that the data you really wanted to see isn't there? Done that same thing myself. While the ResMed S9 stores some data on the machine and will write that data to the SD card (even if left out of the machine) it does lose some of the hi def data because that data is not stored on the machine. You didn't lose all the data though...you still have some stuff available from last night. You can still check your report and see some data from last night.yarrow wrote:So I eagerly went to get the SD card and look at the details in SleepyHead, and found that I hadn't actually clicked it all the way in to the machine!
The new PR S1 machines actually store more data on the internal memory of the machine and the only thing missing is the flow graph when SD cards aren't in the machine. So for any PR S1 machine users reading this..if you forget to insert the SD card fully or at all...you won't lose anything but flow graphs or wave form. All the other stuff will be written to the SD card when it gets inserted. Not sure how long it stays stored on the machine...Best I could figure out was around 3 weeks and then the older stuff gets overwritten. For sure a few nights...no huge loss of detailed data.

Another suggestion for a machine improvement:
Bluetooth the data directly to your laptop--all of it!

I've done that only it wasn't all the way in my machine. it was still in the SD slot in my computer.

I've done that too, leaving it in the computer slot. But usually all I have to do is put the chip in the machine and I turn the machine on for good measure and I get the info that I want. Sometimes something is missing, but the impo stuff is there. Actually I do that quite often . . bad habit.

Thanks, folks. I did get the summary data: 4.4 centrals per hour, 0.8 obstructives, 0.2 hypopneas, median leaks 6.0, 95% 12.0, max 19.2 -- excellent for me. It was my first night with the Ultimate Chin Strap (rather than adhesive Ace bandage around the mouth). The over-the-head part kept falling off, but I suspect the around-the-mouth part was helping.Pugsy wrote:While the ResMed S9 stores some data on the machine and will write that data to the SD card (even if left out of the machine) it does lose some of the hi def data because that data is not stored on the machine. I wanted to look at those flow graphs, though, to see if the 4.4 centrals per hours were scattered about, or the result of a Cheyne-Stokes episode; and to look at the flow limitation -- some nights I have almost none, some nights a lot.

Re: Irony
Could we perhaps transfer the data to one of the new SD cards that has built-in wifi? It would be awesome to be able to pull the data without pulling the card!chunkyfrog wrote:Another suggestion for a machine improvement:

Edit - I just took a look, and the card in my unit is only a 2GB unit. The 4GB + wifi "Eye-fi" card is only forty bucks. (After recording data from February 16 to last night, only 22MB of space is used up.)
Re: Irony
Hi,
I've had a couple of episodes where I forgot the card in the computer and lost a nights data. I got a 2gb card, and put it in when I take the original sd card out. That way, should I forget the original in the computer, the spare is in the machien, and I will still have the data. When I put the original back in, I just place the spare in the stand by the bed.
Haven't lost a nights worth of data since! (Sound of hollow knockng in my head as I knock on wood)

Re: Irony
After forgetting the card in the computer a couple of times and a wholehearted effort to drown the darn thing by knocking over a cup of coffee on it, I'm working on developing a new habit. When I close up SleepyHead, I remove the card, walk back to the bedroom and put it in the machine immediately. Then, for being such a responsible girl, I treat myself to 30 minutes of forum reading.

I've done one of each so far. Thankfully, the machine still records the basic data since I am still in the compliance phase. I was really upset the first time when I thought I had lost 3 nights of compliance data. I've had some missed nights, so I need every night I can count. This past week, I was sick, and I missed 4 nights. I used it two of those nights, but I did not reach 4 hours. If I cough too much, I start gasping for air. At least the blowing has stopped. And today, the coughing seems to be better, so hopefully, I can get a full 4 hours, preferably more, tonight. I miss not getting 4-7 hours per night with it.
