Resorting to self adhesive ace bandage.

Post by idahogal » Sat Mar 18, 2006 8:32 pm

OK, I have tried taping my mouth at night and I keep getting little blowouts in the corners of my mouth. I also wake up looking like a puffer fish with my cheeks all full of air. . So I am going to try the ace bandage that is self adhesive first as a chin strap and then if I have to as a mouth wrap. Geeze, its a good thing I am married, no single man would appreciate my bed time hour of beauty.

It would look like a FF Mask would be better suited, I've got 1700 hours on mine. No taping and I can insure I'm not mouth breathing.

Don't worry as far as men go, the mummy thing would be way down the list. Some married men would enjoy the pease and quiet.

That is for sure. The running joke in our house is that he has finally reached his goal of getting me to shut my mouth for a while. He says now I HAVE to listen to him and can't respond.

idahogal,

I had the same problem with those little mouth leaks and I just started using a chinstrap (Topaz). What a difference! My leak rate (with the Aura) went from an average of 36% down to 19% and my AHI also took a nose dive (no pun intended ) from an average of 9 to 4. Although with only three nights using the chinstrap there isn't enough data to make a strong case but so far, so good.

I found the chinstrap (a good one) to work much better than taping my mouth. No hassels with the sticky glue around the mouth in the morning or drooling. On the downside, there are now two harnesses on my head at night (now I know what a race horse feels like) and it might get a little warm during the summer - have to wait to find out about that.

Good luck,

George

Of course, we all know what works well for one will not necessarily work well for all.

sounds like something my husband would say LOL

How is the ace bandage working for you? I've found the non-sticky stuff to work better for some reason. Curious to know how it is going for you...
