Should I wash hose and mask first before using?

Post by shundiman » Thu Mar 16, 2006 1:10 am

I'm wondering how many people wash their new hose and mask before using them for the first time or do they just use them out of the box?

I washed mine just in case. Never know where some packers fingers were before touching your equipment.

Abulutlely yes.

The instructions on my hose said so.

And see this chat transcript, about masks. I added the bold, but "ANY" was capitalised in the original.

63. How do I clean the ComfortLite™ mask?

We recommend using mild soapy water on a daily basis for optimal results for any of our masks. Avoid soap with moisturizers. Cushions tend to interact to natural facial oils, so be sure to wash your face each night before use. Your seal and comfort can be compromised if cushions acquire build up on the cushion surface. For those with sensitive skin, it is a good idea to soak ANY new mask you use for 30-60 minutes in mild soapy water.

For me it made a difference.
And when I couldn't soak the hose (Aussie heated hose) I was bothered by the smell of "new" blown directly into my nose.

I found those soaking instructions after two nights with my first mask, which left an irritated red mark beneath my nose. I soaked it, and things got better.

Now, my rule is: if you can, soak.
