Traveling outside the country

Post by Watts » Sat Apr 28, 2012 7:14 am

I will be doing some traveling to the Philippines in the near future. Does anyone know of any issues using the Respironics M series pro with the normal AC adapter there?

I suggest getting familiar with Magellan's Travel Supplies. They have a good travel wizard to help you pick the correct plug adapter:

http://www.magellans.com/store/util/ElecWiz

They also have information by country:

The Respironics M series units are dual voltage (I traveled to the UK with a Respironics M Auto BiPAP), so all you will need is a plug adapter. This is a lot cheaper than getting a voltage adapter. Essentially, you just need to plug your current gear into the plug adapter and the plug adapter allows you to plug into the wall.

And of course you can always talk with an operator at Magellan's to help you through the process.

Hope that helps.

It depends where you travel to within the Phillipines.

If you are basically going to be in Manilla, or one of the larger cities, you should be OK as far as AC wall socket power goes, but in more remote areas you may not have reliable mains power available, or if it is reliable it may only be on at certain times during the day... and in that case it almost certainly wont be on throughout the night.

Also be careful about water, even in the cities... both what you drink and what you put in your humidifier. My general rule is if I don't think water is fit to drink, I won't think about putting it in my humidifier under any circumstances.

Cheers,

Bill
