I think I found the right general physician!

Post by jaybee72 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:25 am

I just went for an annual physical, and decided to return to a doctor I used to go to several years ago. My wife had talked me into going tho thier family doctor, which is when the sleep studies occurred 4.5 years ago.

Anyway - as he got started and asked me if there was anything specific to address I brought up that I needed a new order for a cpap flow generator, and said that I had some specific requests of hime. He smiled, then said don't worry - we'll make sure to get you a really good machine like you probably want if you've done your homework on sleep apnea.

When we got back to the subject later he suggested doing a new sleep study since it has been a while. I told him I'd rather not, that I'd prefer to just get an auto this time around, set it for a narrow window, and watch the data. I had brought a couple of screen shots from Rescan under the assumption he new little about data machines, but he was simply happy that I knew how to download and access the data. I don't need to fork out a $1000 deductible and then 20% for a sleep study when I can do it at home! So, he is fine with the auto route.

He asked what DME I had been using. I told him, then mentioned how annoyed I was with them lately. He said that he's had his own complaints with every one of them, that they're all crooked.

So, it appears I've found a reasonable GP as far as the cpap stuff goes...

I'd venture to guess you found a GP who happens to be a CPAP user himself. That's great!

--At least one that doesn't get monthly 'plain envelopes' from any of the DME's
