CPAP machine noise...
CPAP machine noise...
I am a relatively new CPAP user. I used a PR System One CPAP for 6 mos without anyone ever checking on how well it was working. Turned out with a pressure of 6cm all it did was turn my moderate apnea into mild apnea. Now I am using a PR System One Auto with AFlex (as of about 3 weeks ago). My 90pct pressure is close to 11cm and my AHI between 3.5 and 4. The machine is ultra quiet during the ramp up but it always wakes me up once or twice during the night when the pressure is at its highest and I have to ramp up all over again to get back to sleep. Is this common? Seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of getting a good night's sleep. Just curious if others have this experience.
Re: CPAP machine noise...
I haven't noticed much difference in noise at different pressures (between 8 and 10). One thing that can increase your perception of the noise is if you have the C-flex or A-flex turned on. It doesn't actually make it louder, but it varies the noise as you inhale and exhale, making it more noticeable.
I'm also wondering if what's waking you up isn't machine noise, but noise from leaks at higher pressures. Does the noise keep you up once you wake up? If you try just setting your machine to a straight CPAP pressure of 11 at the beginning of the night, does it seem as loud then?

Re: CPAP machine noise...
It happened on mine 2 or 3 times.
I hit the power button twice, rolled over and went back to sleep.
My guess: The programming deals with most events, but once on a while I give it something it just can't figure out.
Since it hasn't happened for several months, I'm not worried.
Sometimes we are sensitive to leakage, pressure and noise--It gets better.

Thanks...turning off the AFlex seems to have solved the problem. I'm pretty sure it was breathing noise. Appreciate the suggestion.
