I thought I was doing well had been on C/pap for about five years. I loved it and loved getting decent sleep. My machine quit working the other night. What a nightmare. I have moved several times since my sleep study was done. So I had to find a new Dr. got lucky and the sleep study center had just had a cancelation when my Doctor got called them. I got to have a sleep study that night. The bad news is that my technition thinks I need a pressure of 17! I slept well but woke with a huge headache and earache. I tried the nose and mouth mask but I had been using the nasel mask and learned to sleep with my mouth closed. So if I learned to sleep with my mouth open would it help the ears?
Another thing, before I first got my Cpap I was not doing well. No wonder my oxygen was dropping down to 17% at night. I really goofed up on my job and one thing lead to another and I lost my job. I just started another new job. Things on the job are not good. Last week a coworker got fired on the spot. The plan is to do a RIF and lay several more off. I do have some training that is needed and nobody else has it, but in thie area my race is a minority and I am one of the newest hired. I am scared that with not sleepping well and my DR. told my not to take my anxiety meds I am going to goof on the job and be without a job again. I don't know how long before I get another cpap. Life is such a mess. So many problems from so many different directions, I can't lose this job.

CPAP quit working-
See if you have any friends who are electrically inclined. Could be something simple. IF the cord was stressed try flexing the cord where the stress point is and holding the button that turns on the machine at the same time. IT Could be a fuse inside the machine. This involves taking it apart. But, since it isn't working, you've got nothing to lose. Or find someone who feels comfortable doing that. HAve you checked to make sure it's getting power? Tried a different outlet? Try these first. If I was close to you, I'd be there in a heartbeat. (Beam me over, Scotty?)

cpap problems
Can you rent a machine somewhere? My pressure is at 20 and I also had ear problems with the nasal pillows.
From what I've read here an autopap machine would work best for you, but I'm not sure the nasal pillow masks are the best to use for them, check the postings and there is a lot of info out there.
Good luck,
tk

I have seen machines on Ebay for as little as 25 dollars. Might be worth a try.

Skip eBay - they have officially banned selling cpap machines. You will still find machines listed on occasion by they usually get cancelled before conclusion of the auction. You may even find the auction gets cancelled afer it ended and you have already paid. Look at Yahoo auctions or overstock.com auctions if you are looking to purchase on an auction site.

Funny, I just checked and there were 5 listed for sale on Ebay. I am sure you are probably right, but it is something they should check for themselves.
