Hello. Many people here will be happy to see your post!

In order for people to help you, we need to know what machine and mask you are using. When you say prongs, we have no idea what you are talking about. It could be one of several different masks.

Please tell us what equipment you are using.

You already have a post from Wednesday about a heavy chest feeling, and many people gave advice, but you never returned to follow up in that thread, but now are posting this one... it would probably be best if you returned to the original note and did as people asked by completing your profile with the names and model #'s of your equipment to make it easier to help you...

The sleep technician at the lab fit me with the ResMed LT. First she started with the medium size. Then she switched to the large size and got that to work. I figured the large size was the right size. At home, it was bothering me and easily leaking so I tried the medium size and that really helped. Try different sizes to see what works best.
Lansinoh, 100% lanolin, helps. It is for breastfeeding moms and is in the baby section of drugstores.

are you on pillows or an actual prong cannula style, like an oxygen cannula, but big enough to seal in your nose. I ask because I have a prong style called the nasal aire II and the exhaust holes are huge. I have a high strong, high pressure blowing into my nostrils but I can breathe out quite well. The pillows are not so easy. To get quieter, the exhaust holes got smaller and smaller. On some pillow masks, there is no way someone on my prescription can use those pillows without the device blowing off your face and if you strap it tight enough to accommodate your prescription without a leak or total collapse, you feel like you are suffocating. I went to a mask with pillows and a mouth cushion called the Hybrid. I actually like it very much, but another solution if you can't fins a good pillow unit is a full face mask. Look for something that you don't have to tighten too tightly to your face. Buy the insurance on a new mask or trial one at the cpap library for about 14. a week plus shipping (another 14 and or about). A good mask is everything when it comes to sticking with your treatment and living an additional 20 or so years than you would have.
