Cleaning a cpap machine

Post by dkumlien » Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:04 pm

I have a resmed remstar that i have used for several years without problem. I do not use the reservior. I took a vacation in Mexico and upon return everything we took smells musty. I washed the mask, added a new hose, but the machine itself generates the same musty smell as the hotel room. Has anyone run Into this before and solved the problem? I would prefer not to purchase a new machine if i can help it.

Take it outside in the nice fresh, clean air.. let it run all day in the fresh air.

I assume you have already changed the filters?

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

I ran my Elite overnight with the hose attached in a sealed box with a few charcoal briquets to get rid of tobacco smoke.
It helped some.
But then I left it in the box for a month--that worked.
