PR S1 REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP with Heated Tube

Post by azpilgrims » Mon Mar 19, 2012 3:49 pm

So my new machine arrived today via Fedex, a PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP with Heated Humidifier and Heated Tube. Got the machine all set up and tried it out for about 10 minutes, so far so good - the heated tube is a nice touch and it feels good to have somewhat room temperature air vs. the cold air on my old machine. I did notice is has a mask check function where you can put on your mask, select mask check, and it will look for leaks. The method to access the setup menu is the same as my last PR S1 Auto IQ, I will check in the morning to see if the sleepyhead software reads the data and will post if there is anything unusual. So overall the machine appears to be very nice, the humidifier and heated tube seem to work well.

Pugsy I will scan the information you asked for and will PM you tomorrow when I have it done.

I just imagine that SleepyHead will work just fine with the 60 series APAP.. Just wanted to make sure before we go shouting its praises.
If it works as expected.. you should see reports looking pretty much the same.

Unfortunately SleepyHead will not read the data from the SD Card, tried everything and it will not work. So now I am out of luck trying to see my information, guess I need to buy Encore Viewer.

Give it until noon or so then try it again just to be sure.

Well darn them...

Check your private messages for some alternative ideas on software

If they have made major changes and Encore won't work..they will be updating it. No need to purchase Viewer though.

Az, try Sleepyhead again today. As Pugsy pointed out, the machine won't write to the card until after 12 pm of whatever time zone your machine was set for--not necessarily the time zone you're in.

The Noon thing is for writing to the LCD screen..Noon GMT time. At least that is the way it was with the older machines. The machines are set to GMT time and the LCD screen viewing is not updated until Noon GMT time. Then the onscreen data will be available.
Looks like the new 60 Series machines are going to require totally new updated software.
Older versions of Pro and Viewer won't work.
So don't go buying Encore Viewer 2.0 that is now available..it won't work either.
Rumor control has it that there is another Viewer product in the works to accommodate the new 60 series machines as well as another Pro Version.

So just a matter of a little time and we will have software available for the new 60 series machines.

Well since this is my personal machine that I just bought I will have to start using the new machine (PR S1 APAP) that my DME is going to hopefully have today in stock due to them not giving me an Auto up-front. I will miss the heated hose but would rather see my sleep data everyday.

I used a stand alone heated hose this past winter with my PR S1 BiPap.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hybern ... -hose.html

It worked quite well. I use a lot of added moisture and I like a really cool bedroom and for the prior 2 winters I battled rain out... So last November I decided to buy a heated hose. I bought the Hybernite2300 and it worked perfectly. Not adjustable like the heated hoses with the machines but a whole lot better than nothing. I really had no need for adjusting the heat and it worked perfectly just like it was.

Something to think about if you really want a heated hose.

I forgot to mention that the Hybernite 2300 might be an insurance covered expense if a DME happens to have them or will order them. The ResMed Climateline heated hose is a covered expense by most insurance.
I didn't think about that when I ordered mine. I have since told my DME about it and he was going to get some to have in stock. There is a HCPCS code for it.

I will check with them when I pick up the new machine, thanks for the information. Hopefully the guy from SleepyHead will read this thread, I would be glad to supply any information he needs to read the new machine data, be glad to send him a donation as well.

Will this "better option" be available to those of us using ordinary old System One machines?
