I was looking at the SleepZone covered heated tubes and they seem a bit expensive. So, I was wondering if you can use a normal heated tube (like the Hypernite) with a hose cover (like a SnuggleHose). I don't see why this can't be done. If it's not recommended, what are the things to cautious of?
Thanks!

Re: Heated tube AND a cover
My tubing is not the same brand, and I have not used mine with a cover, but when I pulled a light blanket over mine, it would turn itself off and then come back on in a few minutes. I assume it was overheating. When I leave it on top of the blankets, it's fine. I wouldn't use a hose cover on it.

Re: Heated tube AND a cover
I have the Hybernite 2300 heated hose. They specifically state "no hose covers" because air will be uncomfortably warm. I tried it.. It was indeed uncomfortably warm...I could not tolerate it and quickly removed the hose cozy. The Hybernite is either on or off...no rheostat for various temperature levels. Same thing with the Aussie heated hose.
I bought my Hybernite heated hose in November. I like a cold bedroom (like 50 degrees) and the Hybernite did its job just fine. No rain out with the highest humidifier setting (the way I like it) and the cold bedroom. Air temp was not overly warm nor overly cool...just right.
I used the Hybernite 2300 with my PR S1 BiPap all winter and I think it was great. Very flexible and light weight. Very much like the white Performance hose that is a step above the standard gray hose.
I am now using a ResMed S9 machine with heated hose. Just got it about 3 weeks ago and that is the only reason I am not using the Hybernite now.

Re: Heated tube AND a cover
Is there a difference between Hibernite and the Aussie Hose?
My Aussi Hose heated up the air too much (for my comfort point of view) so I changed the transformer for a one with lower current and the problem was fixed. The reason I didn't like it was the weight for traveling purposes, other way it worked number one once I reduced the heat.

Different manufacturer. Hibernite costs much less. It does have a power brick which I think the Aussie hose has also. Both are either on or off. I have never used a Aussie hose so I don't know of any particular differences other than who made them.rosacer wrote:Is there a difference between Hibernite and the Aussie Hose?
