Re: Day 1... Day 2.... WOW
Hi,
Very possible. For some folks, the first night on CPAP is like lighting up a rocket.
Pre-CPAP, I never was in bed more than about 60 minutes. Between waking up or going to the bathroom, I was always getting up. The first time I was dialed in on CPAP, I slept for 7 hours straight--the first time that happened in over 20 years. I woke up totally disoriented because I couldn't believe it was morning already.
Another new experience for me was waking up, and then staying awake. I used to drift in and out of the ozone for 3 or 4 hours every morning.
Let's hope that you continue on this path, and that AHI continues to drop.

Thanks, this is my 3rd night and I was a little more restless and became congested in my nose after 5 hours but I am as rested as I can be... This is going to be an adventure and from what I have read, I know this board will be here to help.

Monitoring this board, and doing searches to answer all of my questions, has been one of the smartest thing I have ever done. I have only been on CPAP for a little over a month, but every issue that I had was answered by the kind people on this board! Good luck to you as you establish your new NORMAL.

And here I sit pea green with envy when I read about such marked immediate improvement.
Yes it is possible. There are a few lucky people who do experience what I call the overnight "miracle". Most of us have had a much slower road to improvement.
If the nasal congestion persists..try experimenting with humidifier settings a bit.. Some people do better with a little more humidity and some people do better with a little less. This part of the therapy is highly personal and what works for one may not work for another.

Hope you stick around here. Lots of really nice people here.
Have you investigated the software yet?
You can use SleepyHead (check out my signature line for information on it) free a very easy to use. Windows and Mac versions available.

My preference is SleepyHead but then I used it for my Respironics machine long before I got my ResMed machine so I was more comfortable with it. You can try both if you like and decide which works best for your needs.

You're definitely not alone.
You may find that you struggle with some aspects of the treatment after an initial honeymoon period. My first mask was very hard on the skin on my face, and I had horrible stiff necks for a while.
If you press on through the struggles and keep using the mask, the difference in how you feel in a few months will be miraculous.

It is definitely possible.
First week I had CPAP, I scheduled a week off from work - I knew it might be a struggle. I slept 12+ hours for about six days. Then by the seventh day, I awoke after just 7 hours. I felt ready to take on the world. I can still tell if my sleep is poor and look forward to some good sleep.
