Waking up too much

Post by moondoggy » Tue Mar 06, 2012 9:30 pm

Is anyone else out there waking up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason now that they are using CPAP?

Prior to going on CPAP I would go to bed at midnight and get up at 6:00 AM and I would seldom wake up but since going on CPAP I wake up about 4 hours after going to sleep. Once awake, I look at the time and simply go back to sleep but I'm finding it odd that I now wake up like I am. Does this eventually go away or is this what I can expect to happen from now? Is there something the machine doing that is waking me up?

If you are using your machine set on auto, it's possible that the machine is detecting an apnea and increasing the pressure to fix it. The change in pressure could be waking you up. Some people that have this problem set their machine on CPAP at their 95% pressure..

When I first began using cpap, for several months or more, I woke up every 2-3 hrs, then 4 hrs, then 6 hrs, most times for no apparent reason, other then just waking up, as time past I began to sleep more soundly, now I'm sleeping 8-9 hrs solid. You may be just going through an adjustment phase. Sleep well
