Is there a neck collar?

Post by Arizona-Willie » Sat Mar 03, 2012 4:23 pm

I often fall asleep while sitting in front of the computer or watching TV.
I was wondering if there was such a thing as a neck collar to keep my chin from falling down on my chest and closing the airway or restricting it.

Anyone successfully using a cervical collar out there? If so, can you tell us what kind?

I had previously read on the forum that a cervical collar can be used to prevent mouth breathing, so last night I tried one I had in my closet. I've been incredibly frustrated with my leaks for the last 3-4 months. I never had a problem with them until lately, and now every night my leak line looks like a roller coaster. Tried everything, including things that had previously worked, and still had bad leaks. I was surprised this morning to see my results. Will continue this, even after just buying a few new/different chinstraps. I'm sure I'll use the chinstraps again, as it seems that I get best results when I do change things around (especially different nasal pillow masks).

First time posting pics so hope they come out OK.

I'm hoping that folks who use these will specify what kind (e.g., how many inches, type of material, a link to a particular product).

As you can see on photo mine is just a generic, cheap, soft foam collar, sells for under $10 (free from my closet). You may want to find one that's adjustable as I'm sure they are able to accommodate different bodies. I just happened to get lucky that mine fit (held my head in a good position) and worked.
