Just completed my first year on XPAP!

Post by jimnsc » Sat Mar 03, 2012 1:22 pm

Talk about a learning curve! Had it not been for this forum and some very special people on it I may not have this procedure down yet. I don't mean to imply 'perfection' 'cause just when I thought I had everything in order (correct settings and mask[s]) the whole outfit would delight in showing me I wasn't in charge. Have you ever heard your machine laughing at you or am I the only one? Nothing uglier than a quiet machine with a loud laugh! In addition to having some expert advice here I started this whole endeavor with some gigantic resolve that "I was going to make it work for me whatever it took." All my life (70 years) "attitude" has been a major ingredient to making anything a success.

This is an "expensive" indoor sport but is worth it because my Cardiologist hinted that in spite of my heart's condition XPAP may very well prolong my days. Don't know about you but if I'm talked about, I'd prefer it be in the present tense. So newbies - understand you will have to climb some pretty steep hills at times but give it your best shot because you're actually prolonging your days on this earth - and life is good. Each day is a gift - open it!

Wow, Jim.... a year already? So glad you have been successful in your therapy, and I hope I helped in some small way back at the start with getting you situated with the Intellipap. Here's to many more years of great sleep and health!

Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

Jim,

I fight fire with fire. I have my backup machine sitting in plain view of my primary machine. If my primary machine starts to taunt me, it will go into the closet and never again see the light of day. The only way to deal with technology is to show it who is boss.

Congrats Jim!

Now you're living life in the front seat rather than the back seat looking at the front seat looking out at your life.
Anotherwords, you're being present in your own life. Awesome!
