snoring with nasal vs pillows

Post by HPM » Wed Feb 29, 2012 3:50 pm

Hello to everyone - I am experiencing something strange with my masks. Since last May, I have mostly used the Swift FX for Her and the couple years before that, the Comfort Gel. Anyway, here lately, I have needed to use my C.Gel or MIrage Fx nasal just to take a break from the pillows. When I use the nasal masks now, I am having some snoring and don't sleep as well. I can't figure this out! Anyone had this happen?
I think that the pillows allow the air to go more forcefully into the airway and possibly my airway has adapted to that level of force. I do know that since using the pillows, my throat has been really dry and uncomfortable, even with the humidifier cranked up high. That's why I sometimes try to use the nasal. I have been pretty miserable.

Have you tried a full face mask that would allow you to breathe even with your mouth open (it happens when you're asleep) and not lose the cpap air that way - happens to lots of us.

I am experiencing the samething, I have been using the Swift FX for at lest a year, the last two nights I went back to using my nasal masks just for a change. I to started snoring with the nasal masks, I never snore with the pillows.

I tried full face about 4 years ago and couldn't control the leaks and the air felt weird going in my mouth - making my mouth get puffed out with air and dry. Maybe the newer masks out now would be better and I have a better machine with better humidifier. I'm comforted a little by hearing that someone else is experiencing the same phenomena with the Swift Fx and nasal. I thought it was just me. I appreciate both replies. Since using the Swift Fx, I find it reallyl comfortable but it dries my airway, even with high humidity.
