AHI going back up. Also, need help with Quattro FX FFM.

Post by cubism_dream » Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:28 am

My AHI has been about 3.1 for the past two days. I have no idea what's causing this. I'm also trying to make my new FFM work. I think my main issue is that I have a small nose and the bridge of my nose is flatter than most noses, so there is an inherent seal issue in that area. I'm already having issues with getting a full night's sleep with my nasal pillows, now I have to try to make this FFM work.

I really believe that the Swift FX nasal pillows work better for me, but I'd like to see if the Quattro FX will work, since I'm a mouth breather. I've tried a few of the tips here on the forum, but I really think the issue is with my own facial structure. It just won't work with this full-face mask. Should I just try to stick to my nasal pillows (and mouth taping) or should I be more patient with making the FFM work? I haven't felt 100% for two months now and transitioning to a new mask isn't helping.

I actually just realized that my body may be adjusting to a new pressure level that my sleep doc adjusted. It's now 9-12 as opposed to 8-12. I have 30 days to try out the FFM, but I feel like every night that I try to make something new work, it's taking away from a night that's proven to be more successful (with the nasal pillows).

Your AHI is not bad, but if you have not been feeling 100% for a few months, just had a pressure change and are trying a new mask all at the same time it really gets complicated.
You could try one of the mask liners or something like the gecko from ResMed (the nose cushion). There is also the old Macks Silicone Earplug method of getting a seal which may work well for you. Ask if you want more details about Macks.

Is the mask leaking? I have changed from on ffm to another and it took over a week for me to adjust to it. This page gives some hints on how to properly install and adjust the mask. It also has a fitting guide to make sure you have the correct size: http://www.resmed.com/us/products/quatt ... s&sec=true.
Hope that this helps.
