Taking a break from coding..

Post by jedimark » Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:13 pm

Hi Guys & Gals,

Just letting you know I'm not dead, and I've not given up..

I just really need to take a break, as real life has managed to catch up with me and turn everything upside down.
I need to concentrate my efforts for the next few weeks on staying sane.

This is also my one year CPAP anniversary.. I'm not the most positive example for CPAP success, as it still hasn't made much difference for me.
Somewhat amazingly, I've been headache free for 3 days straight, and I've been off the hose for this entire time (just verifying, not giving up). I have lost a bit of weight recently, so this might be helping (the secret to weight loss is apparently not eating due to stress)

Please don't worry: SleepyHead will definitely continue, regardless of whether I continue on the mask.

I've made some good advancements breaking M-Series data format, and also some S8 stuff. Hopefully the headaches stay away permanently, and I can do a heck of a lot more cool stuff.

Anyway, I just want to say thanks to everyone for all the encouragement and support I have received here.

Thank you for all the hard work on the program...

You have certainly made it much easier for me to understand my apnea...

Take Care and God Bless!

I don't know what I'd do without Sleepyhead - it is a marvelous tool. Thanks for all that you do.

Time away is important. Do what you need to do to focus on what you need to focus on, hopefully recharge and refresh too, and know always that good thoughts are being beamed your way.

Thanks for all your efforts.

Be very careful about stopping. I'm sure you have heard it, but feeling good or bad is not a good indicator of what harm apnea is doing to your body and brain.

Mark,

As a relative newbie who is greatly struggling with the cpap, I thank you profusely for Sleepyhead. I despise the Devilbiss software and at least being able to get a sense of what may be occurring thanks to Sleepyhead is keeping me sane.

Do whatever you need to do take care of you.

I just am so grateful for this software program.

There are 4 types of sinus headaches caused by pressure changes in the sinuses. Each has its own place where it hurts and has its own specific types of pain. For example sharp pains about an inch apart on the top of your head is one type of sinus pain (and the type I had when I started using CPAP). Another type flees like pain above a stopped up nose and I think one is pain between the temples and the ears. Like diving ear pain, some of them have head movements that can reduce the pressure and get rid of the pain and pseudoephedrine is the common solution for diving pain assuming you can still buy the stuff with about being accused of making smack.

If your looking for something else to do, I think a good write up on that info would be very helpful for lots of people.

Hi Jedimark.

First, happy anniversary to you on a year with cpap. From what I remember one of your posts, you've used your cpap a heck of alot more than I did my first year. My first year consisted of 2 hours a night. For one who has who has mostly lived a life of headaches, I consider it a blessing when I can live a day without one. According to my journal, I haven't had one since 12/10/11. For so many years, I was popping Tylenol and Avele like taking a vitamin everyday, whose to say what that has done to my liver.

SleepyHead has helped me manage my therapy. As others have said Jedimark, I am sooooo grateful for what you have done *graciously bows*. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Blessings to you for what you have done for us, mucho. Yes, taking a break from coding is definitely a good thing. Geeky people need to step away from their computer and have some fun Life is too short not to do so. I know, I've been married to one for almost 24 years. It's good for the soul.

Jedimark, you're a young man. I wish to God I would have been your age when I started my therapy. Shudder to think what the lack of oxygen, combined with not getting the restful/restorative sleep my body requires has done to both my brain and organs. I know I'm preaching to the choir. Had I been your age starting cpap, I know my brain and organs would be in much better shape. Rather than riddling you with guilt, I'll just say please work on masking up every night. Your brain and organs will be so thankful even though they cannot come out and say so.

Added note: There are different reasons for headaches, one being dehydration. That means drinking lots of water everyday. I didn't discover this till 2005. Another reason is overexerting yourself. Again, taking time off to step back and take care of you is important. Anotherwords, your headaches my not be OSA related. You may want to consider having that checked out further.

Mark,

If anyone understands how xpap doesn't always make you feel better, I do. But knowing what damage is done without it, I continue using it - and hope you will too.

I also want to send thanks to you (big ones) for the Sleepyhead program. What a wonderful tool! And what a huge way to give back to the people on this forum.

Please take care of yourself.

Mark, thanks for the software, it's simple the best out there - and that's even in beta format!

Yes, you need to take care of yourself first. Take the time you need to deal with life, we'll wait.

I hope the headaches can be resolved without the need for you to drop CPAP all together. I have sinus issues, and yeah, they can be a real pain - physically and figuratively =)

Hang in there, let us help if we can, and thanks again for the amazing work you've done.

Ditto to what Slinky said.

Take a break and get to feeling better. While all of us that use Sleepyhead love it, we want you to be healthy, too.
