Hi everyone-
I'm trying to better understand various CPAP devices and have heard about a few devices made by Viasys (Orion and Pegasus). I haven't seen much posted here on them (mostly ResMed, Respironics, PB, F&P) but was hoping somebody had some experience with these devices and could let share how they compared with some of the "usual suspects"
Thanks!
Patrick
Anybody have experience with Viasys CPAPs?

Nope, that would be like buying an Edsel, there is a reason no one is responding (nobody is buying them). I think the only people using that machine are their employees
But you can do a search here using the above search, think there was one patient here that lived out in the boondocks and couldn't wait to find a real DME and bought one, had nothing but problems if I recall correctly.
You'll be a lot better off purchasing a machine that others are familar with (Operation, programming, experience etc.), should you have a problem you can come here and get it resolved. Buy an odd-ball like that machine and you'll be left alone when it comes to problems.
Don't expect to get support from Viasys, NONE of the cpap mfg's will provide support on the machine other than very basic items.
The top 3 machines are:
1. Respironics Remstar Pro2 (cpap) or the Auto w/Cflex (autopap).
2. Resmed S8 or Spirit
3. P&B 420E.
The above are what I would suggest you stick to, they are all very good machines.

Thanks Snoredog-
That makes sense, I just wanted to touch all the bases before making a decision. I've seen the Viasys machines on another site (Cpap man?) and they looked interesting. They certainly look different from anything else out there and are not just a "box on the nightstand".

Oh I'm familar with the machines, they are NOT new, they have been around for 5 years or more that I know of. A lot of on-line dealers used to sell them, now, not so many, (has to be a reason for that, either unpopular or problematic). I know when I was looking for a small unit for travel I looked at one and local DME had one, I wasn't impressed.
Do a google search for them, you may find posts about them being noisy, that was the last I read about them. Yep, cpapman.com sells about everything, not that that is bad.
