DeVilbiis/Transferring data from machine/What am I missing

Post by 49er » Tue Feb 14, 2012 3:02 pm

Ok, I feel like EMS and am completely baffled regarding installing the Smart Link Software package including the module.

So far, I have attached the module to the back of the unit without any problems. I see how to insert data card and send off to provider which I won't be ready to do until next week.

What I am not seeing is how to access data so I can transfer it to my computer. I have a smart link data card reader but I have no clue as to how that fits in order to get the data to the computer.

Am I missing a part I need to buy at Best Buy?

HELP!

PS - Why can't anyone write any decent instructions? Is that a lost art?

I don't use the DeVilbiss software myself...rather I use Sleepyhead.

However, the principles should be the same. You need to connect the card reader to a USB port on your computer, insert the SD card into card reader, open the software program on the computer, and then import the data into the software program.

Which step are you having difficulty with specifically?

I sent you all that information via PM the other day... go back to the links I gave you including the one for the quick start guide for newbies.

Thanks, eating some junk food gave me some brain power:)

I just noticed the slot on the card reader to insert the SD card so i think I am all set. I understand I won't have any data until I use the machine again.

Thanks Emilia, will do. Sorry about that.

I will probably start with Sleepyhead since Smart Link was taking forever to install. But eventually, i will start taking a look.

By the way, I love how they instruct you to send off the data card to your provider and make the assumption you're not going to even look at it.

The software is not manufactured with the enduser in mind...it is technically written for clinicians' use only.

Yeah, I do remember you mentioning that but I am just incredulous that it was deliberately done this way.

Can you imagine keeping information from diabetics so they can't monitor their blood sugar?
