Dirty CPAP machine
I have been using my CPAP machine for quite a few years now. It was a rental/used machine and I never had a problem, but recently I have been waking up sneezing and watery eyed. I am going to start using my humidifier now to see if this corrects this problem. Question? Are there any internal filters that could be changed? I have changed the two that are in the back on they outside of the machine. Thanks in advance.
Re: Dirty CPAP machine
Respironics machine? If so..
No internal filters...just the 2 in the back of the machine. I like to wash the foam filter every month or so and I change the fine white filter when it looks yucky which is usually about once a month or so.
Perhaps your nasal mucosa have decided that things are too dry when not using the humidifier. Winter air is typically drier with furnaces and wood heat and such.
Give the humidifier a try to see if added moisture will help. I get the same symptoms as you describe when I forget to add water to my humidifier and it goes dry. My nasal mucosa don't like dry at all.

It's hard to tell unless we know what equipment you are using.
Please go to your profile and add your machine and mask (in text, not pics) so that we may help you better.
Cheers,
