Being a newbie I have a couple of questions. I am using a nasal pillow and sometimes I wake up with a moist mouth and other times I wake up with a dry mouth. Which is the proper one, dry or moist?
Secondly I am having another problem with the nasal pillow. I have the humidifier set at 4 and the other settings are 6/12. Lately, I am finding that I feel as though I am suffocating. I check the air holes and they are free and open. I rearrange the pillow as well. Laying there waiting to sleep I can feel or hear my breathing. I am taking deep breaths just to breathe. I am finding that letting air escape feels better.I can't believe this is right.
I have used a full face mask but the constant leaks were very annoying.
Sorry that I don't know the correct terminology yet.
dry mouth or moist mouth
Re: dry mouth or moist mouth
Which nasal pillow mask? And which size nasal pillow? Are you using ramp?
Which machine are you using? Your profile points to the old Legacy Remstar Pro CFlex...which is straight pressure machine and yet you say your settings are 6/12 which points to an APAP or auto adjusting machine.
Does your machine look like the one in the link in your profile? If so..check model again..there is an APAP version of that machine.
If your machine is newer model...you may have some software options easily available.
I forget if we have had this discussion before as to what you might need.
If you do have the Legacy machine...you still have software options and thus can see if the dry mouth equals enough mouth breathing to be a problem and we can talk about those options.
Dry mouth equals mouth breathing but it may or may not be a major problem depending on how much mouth breathing.
Moist mouth generally means you are keeping your mouth shut....and this is good.

Re: dry mouth or moist mouth
I am using a female type pillow. The pillow is a medium. i have used the small and the large and this medium seems to be the correct size.
As a newbie here, I cannot tell much about the machine since it was given to me by Lancare. It has been really hard to deal with all this as my Lancare rep isn't always available.
