Is there anyone out there with a damaged ClimateLine that they would like to donate to Science? I'd like to figure out how/if someone without a Resmed S9 could enjoy a heated hose. I know about the Aussie heated hose, but I'm also an enquisitive guy.
Prefer if the hose is still recognized when you connect it to the machine.
And I do promise to post gory hose dissection pics
Any takers?

Wouldn't it be easier to buy this? https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hybern ... -hose.html
Re: Donate your damaged ClimateLine host to science
I have one of the older thinner ones that has been taped but doesn't leak and is recognized when attached to my S9.
Pm me with your address if you want it.

Re: Donate your damaged ClimateLine host to science
If the mask end of the hose breaks, your DME should be able to replace it for free since there is a known defect causing them to break there so your request may be costing people some money if they think they have to buy a new tube.smatthew wrote:I'd like to figure out how/if someone without a Resmed S9 could enjoy a heated hose.
There are 3 pins. A ground, heater and temp probe. The real problem will be to connect to it without the fancy bit of plastic on the S9. The pins on the S9 connector appear to be the same type of spring pins used for circuit board testing. I don't see a way of using that hose without cutting off the connector and wiring up a new one until someone comes up with an adapter that goes in the back of the S9 for O2 or swivel or whatever but I expect there are design patents on that connector. It might be easier to use an S9 humidifier and figure out how to talk to it. It seems to have the power control circuits for the ClimateLine and heater.

Easier? Yes!adrianne wrote:Wouldn't it be easier to buy this? https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hybern ... -hose.html
But, as an electronics geek, I like the idea that the climateline tubing has a heater and a sensor - with the proper controller you can aim for a set temperature. I believe the Hybernite is a "On or Off" setting only.
Re: Donate your damaged ClimateLine hose to science
This is correct. I have the Hybernite 2300. I am quite pleased with it. The on/off thing is the same as with the Aussie heated hose. At first I thought it might be an issue but has not been an issue at all.smatthew wrote:I believe the Hybernite is a "On or Off" setting only.
I am unsure if all the sensors that are needed for the Climateline hose to function optimally are in the hose or in the machine or a combination. I would imagine some are in the machine itself though. If no one has a donation for you then you might watch EBay. Someone recently found one for $19.95 on EBay.

I have had one offer of a hose. So when it arrives I'll see exactly what it does. I believe there is at least one temperature sensor. I'm fairly certain that it's located at the mask end of the hose. Might also be one on the machine end. And a heating coil of sorts.

So yes, there is a single sensor at the mask-end of the hose. It's housed inside the orange 'bump' inside the very end of the hose.Climate Control Technology
Humidification is managed through a combination of the S9 machine, H5i humidifier and (Optional) ClimateLine heated tubing. There are five sensors throughout the system that monitor ambient temperature and patient airflow:
- Flow Sensor in S9 Series machine
- Heater Plate Sensor
- Ambient Temperature Sensor on H5i
- Humidity Sensor on H5i
- Mask Temperature Sensor Built into the ClimateLine Tubing
Looking forward to your experiments.
