Oxygen !
Does anyone use or have used oxygen in conjuction with their CPAP ?
My reason for asking is this.. I was in Vegas and while downtown saw an oxygen bar. I had a headache and nothing seemed to help. The guy at the bar and I got to talking, it turns out he's from TX...Anyway, he suggested I breath the oxygen and if my headache wasn't gone I wouldn't have to pay.
After the 10 min.s it was gone....
A friend of mine did the same thing only at a different place and time and it worked for her.
I know a hunter friend of mine uses oxygen when hunting in high altitudes.
So I was wondering, why not have a small amount of oxygen supplied to my CPAP mask ? The connections are there already......

My sister in Calif told me on the phone yesterday that she has to use oxygen with her cpap. She doesn't have the equipment yet, but there is a way to "bleed" oxygen into the cpap unit. She will only need the oxygen at night. So, there must be an oxygen unit that ties into her cpap. Do a search and see if you can find more info.

I don't know about all mask, but mine has a port that can be un capped and allow for oxygen.
I've even thought about an oxygen concentrator I've seen, but I want to check first, before spending the money.
Speaking of Calif. back when I was driving the big trucks Id always get a headache while there. I learned to stop at a casino in AZ and breath at the oxygen bar, and it works.. Finally, I told them no more Calif.,,,so where did I go next.....NYC....laffin

is what goes into the cpap hose line
the little port holds the O2 line
not mask dependent

I question that the O2 will be of little vaule as
1. The leak rate of the mask's air stream results in loss of O2 input. (Mine was set at 2 for level.)
2. Due to the added volume of air from CPAP the percent of added O2 would be much less than a unpressured mask.
It would be more like smoking in front of a fan and trying to see the smoke off the cigarette, not going to see much.
I think the Doctor that prescribed my O2 added to CPAP flunked physics.

That brings to mind the old sweat hogs saying, "Up your Nose with a Rubber Hose" Haven't thought of that show in years.RobertinTX wrote:I think a lot of Dr's flunked more than that.
LMAO
But the amount you get at an oxygen bar is min. so anything would help.
Or thats just my opinion.
I had a Pulse O2 of 90 in the hospital. they sent me home using O2 set at 2, after 3 months they checked me, my O2 was still 90 and they took me off O2, If so why was I on it in the first place, same Dr. no clue.

Oxygen
My question is - why can't we just use oxygen instead of these machines that seem to cause a lot of problems from all this unnatural pressure.? My ear bothers me, my chest, my stomach and the back of my neck from the strap. And who knows what else is going wrong.
The problem isn't only that we need O2, we need to breath, we need to keep out airway open. If it took 10 cm pressure to keep your airway open so air could get to your lungs, and you used O2 at 10 cm instead of air, you and everything in the room would burst into flame. And O2 costs more than Air.

...and if you used only Oxgen, without the pressure, it just wouldn't enter you liugs because of the obstruction.
For the majority of us, Positive Air Pressure machines are used to treat the obstructions that cause our Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Most of us would be fine if not for the obstructions.

The first treatment for obstructive sleep apnea was very succesful, immediately: it was a tracheotomy, aka a hole in your throat. You put a cap in it during the day....
