For the past couple weeks, I've been trying to see if I still snore. A bad scan of a fax states that it took a pressure of 8 to stop snoring (or possibly 6, stupid image degradation), I'm at 7, and at my last follow up I was asked if I still snored. This morning, I checked what I was using for recording, and I think I finally caught a short snippet of snoring. If that snippet does include snoring, then part of the reason why I didn't record any earlier is that it is quieter than the threshold the program used to trigger recording (the volume was similar to that of my machine). What triggered this recording was inconsiderate neighbours slamming their doors at 3am.
What I suspect is the other part is that if I do snore at 7, then, based off of my logged VSnore2 values (some of which are caused by the hose crinkling as it moves, according to correlation with the audio recordings), I think it is most likely to occur when at C-Flex+. I switched back to C-Flex+ last night to see if the event categorization would return to logging clear airway events (and fewer obstructive events) and more VSnore2, which it did. It still feels like it is removing my precious air before I'm ready. As much as I hate the headache I have now, I think I'll leave my machine at the hateful setting of C-Flex+ 2 for a while longer. I want to see if I can get more of a recording than my tiny snippet.
Woohoo! I've finally recorded myself snoring

Re: Woohoo! I've finally recorded myself snoring
A couple of months ago when I was going through the sleep study process I downloaded a app on my ipod touch from resmed to record my sleeping. The next morning when I woke up and listened to it I got freaked out. I could hear myself snoring then there would be silence for a few moments then I could hear myself gasping for air. This when on all night. It really put sleep apnea in perspective for me to be able to here it for myself.

Just curious, how are you recording? My machine says I snore but I really feel it is probably me just clearing my throat since AHI and other measurements are really good. But still, I'd like to know.

I wonder if that app is available in Android. . .

Re: Woohoo! I've finally recorded myself snoring
There are probably a few such apps available for Android devices, but read the app details carefully. When I grabbed one for my iDevices, most of them had both a free and a pay version. Most of the free sound-activated recording apps would only run for three hours.
I'm looking at adjusting how I approach the recording right now. I'm too quiet to switch the app I've been using over to recording, and I only have one short snippet, and I want more. To deal with that, I'm going to try a different app and changing where I put the phone. After all, I still have two weeks before my next appointment. I'm also leaving my machine at C-Flex+, as that tends to give me a significant portion of the night with VSnore2 in the thirties.

I guess I'm lucky to have a live-in snore alarm in luvvy-hubby.
Re: Woohoo! I've finally recorded myself snoring
Well, the different app (one that does continuous recording, not triggered by sound) and position were also able to pick something up. All the background noise from the fridge was annoying to listen through, and the app's playback controls were awful. The only thing quieter than what sounded like me snoring was my ordinary breathing, not including my machine. And to make matters more difficult, when I located those sounds (SleepyHead's graphs helped me decide where to check (I don't want to listed to the whole night)), they were only for a short duration. I would move, and it would stop. There must be a better way of doing this.
I wouldn't normally wish for loud snoring, but that would make my morning review much easier. And my attempt to increase VSnore2, well, I really didn't miss seeing numbers in the morning like AHI: 6.27 (clear airway: 3.93).

That fridge and its effects on my recording attempts are getting annoying. What's it going to take to get this to work well? Taping the thing to me? I'd rather not, I'm not that desperate at this point. I remember how red, blotchy, and itchy I got under my layers of tape in my studies, and how long it took to get back to normal. I also don't have any tape.
