PR System One Filters

Post by DoriC » Thu Jan 19, 2012 6:51 pm

I still have a supply of M Series black foam and white filters. Can they be used with the PRSOne machines?

Can I just cut out a block that fits from another foam filter I have. Does it really need to be from Respironics?

Don't know where your other foam filter comes from. An older Respironics machine with a larger filter? For sure you can cut it down. Different brand cpap filter? Probably, if it seems to be the same density.
Foam filter from something unrelated to cpap machine? I have no idea.

Doris...I cut down both the gray and the white filters to use in my Prs 1...I actually got 3 from the M series filter.

What magic wand did you use to make the M series filter grow? There is maybe a couple of millimeters difference between the M Series and the PR S1 filter openings.

Did you mean the filter for the quitter machine which I think was the older Legacy tank model machine and it does have a larger filter which can be cut down and 3 sounds about right?

I have a bunch of the old M series filters left. I have been cutting the tab off the white ones and that works. The foam ones seem to be the same size.
Oddly both the cut down M series and the new System One filters tend to work their way out of the cavity. I haven't figured out what is causing that.

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Last night I did cut the tab off the white filter as I remembered someone saying but they didn't really feel "secure" in the slot. My husband gave a hearty sneeze as I turned off the light and something made me go look in the back of the machine. Both filters had fallen out, I guess from the force of the sneeze, so I just used the black foam one. I wish the PR had a cover like the S9 does. The M Series foam also feels a bit stiffer than the PR foam as well as being a tad larger.

M series and PRS1 use the same filters.

Geez, Respironics makes it hard to find info on their web site, especially for anything but the current models.

Look in: http://www.healthcare.philips.com/pwc_h ... atalog.pdf

"1035443 or 1063091 Pollen (foam) filter, reusable For use with all PR System One
and M Series devices.

1029330 Pollen (foam) filters, reusable, 2 per pk. For use with all PR System One
and M Series devices."

The white filters used to have a tab, but Respironics decided that there was a problem with the filters popping out with the tab and now they're made without tabs. (So I hear.) I've been snipping off the tab on my pollen filters. I haven't seen any of the new genuine Respironics filters without tabs. Apparently, there were a lot of the tabbed filters around. Has anyone gotten new untabbed filters in authentic Respironics packaging?

Yes, and if you do have one, lay it on top of the M series pollen filter to see the diff. As Pugsy said there isn't much diff. I trim the end opposite the tab cuz the tab makes it easier to insert/remove the filter. Save the old filter to use as a template.

Or you could use a small piece of painters tape to hold the filters in.

fwiw - It is the size of the filter and not the tab which causes it to eject itself.

Interesting. Are you saying the untabbed filters larger than the tabbed ones? And the untabbed ones don't fit right? Wow.

If you use tape on the filter, you'll suffocate, turn into a zombie, and kill all your loved ones. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Dori, I've solved the filter popping problem with the very high tech solution of using a rubber band around the machine to keep them in place. kathy

Well, there's no reason to be rude simply because you don't understand the question.
