C-Flex is a copyrighted/trademark technology that belong to the vendor Respironics.

CPAP technology is designed to provide a constant/continous (The "C" part of the mneumonic) pressure airway passage--translated, that means it blows the same pressure the entire time its turned on (I'm not counting leaks and other abnomolies here).

One of the main reasons a lot of patients are NON compliant is based on the feeling of suffocation during exhale, especially with higher pressure settings. The goal of C-Flex is to lower or interrupt the pressure at the beginning of an exhale to provide a little more comfort during exhale.

C-Flex has four settings available labeled as 0, 1, 2 and 3. A patient (you) or your respiratory therapist could change the setting that would range on how quickly during an exhale the pressure would be cut or reduced.

DO NOT (like me) make the mistake of thinking that the pressure is reduced by 1, 2, or 3 cm H2O. It is NOT. The technology seems to work out well for a lot of patients providing that break or relief during exhale, BUT many others report that it stacks their breathing. This is not BiPAP technology where you have a specific inhale pressure (iPAP) and a second specific exhale pressure (ePAP).

I hope this helps. If not, you might visit http://www.respironicsremstar.com/ to learn more about the technology.

Thanks!

Sounds like you want the Respironics Remstar AutoPAP with C-flex, 1.5 software, cardreader and MyEncore software.
