How long does it take to catch up?

Post by ja-awake » Thu Feb 23, 2006 8:38 pm

I started on C-PAP 4 years ago and a new study showed they needed to bump up my pressure from 11 to 15. I've been tired a **long** time -- how long does it take to catch up on rest and feel good once you start using the correct pressure? Slept thru the day again at my desk -- wait till my boss finds out!

Also, I'm new -- how do you get those "emoticons" to show up? Mine just show the word.

I have had a new Respironics BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex since last Friday night. I'm a few minutes short of 7 hours per night (just 4.5 needed for my insurance compliance).

Although I don't feel like running in a marathon just yet, I can already tell a big difference in how I feel. Yes, I still have that "sleepy" feeling during the day, but I'm wondering how much of that is habitual since I went for years with OSA and no treatment. I suspect it will be some time before I'm a "new me."

I suggest (not a doctor here) that if you're not already exercising regularly you visit your doctor to ensure you're able without complications and start a light to moderate exercise regime. I notice the biggest difference in my "energy" levels when I'm exercising even if it's just 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a week.

You should be able to make the emoticons come to life by clicking the icons of them next to the text editor when you're in editing/writing mode. If for some reason that doesn't work for you, try just doing a colon, no spaces and then a right paranthesis -- will made a smiley or do a colon, no spaces and then a capital letter D to make a big smiley

Good luck!

Thanks, Snorz! Actually I was starting to wonder if my sleep/wake habits before the change to the new pressure might be something to consider. Sometimes I think I sleep like I did a month ago -- waking a lot during the night. I'll try the exercize, too. I'm sure you are right on that count, but hadn't connected the two.
Thanks for the info on the emoticons, too. Since I'm new here, I'm finding a lot of information that I didn't know was available. . . and still lots more that I don;t understand. I suppose I'll find out just by continuing to read.
Sleep well!
