EUREKA!!!!

Post by Lisaintosa » Wed Dec 28, 2011 9:01 am

Hello All!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I think i have FINALLY found a solution to my leakage problem. I've been using the RemZZZZ FF mask for quite some time, but it seemed as though recently (last year or so) I have had a big problem with leakage, to the point that it wakes DH. Was cruzin' around here and found that they make a hybrid mask (nasal pillows and mouth cover). thought hmmmm maybe that will work, because most of the leaks were at the bridge of my nose. (was wearing a sz small, med was way too big.) Some nights my leak rate was above 1.60, yikes!!! might as well not even be wearing it!

Went the the DME on Monday, got my Mirage Liberty and HOLY COW my leak rate Monday night was .14 and last night it was .10!!!! I did have it set at 13 but lowered it last night to about 11 or so, maybe that helped with the amount of "blow-out" but whatever it seemed to bring it down even more. I also increased the ramp from 5 minutes to 10 minutes. Made a big difference in the "break-in" period. Can't wait till tonight to see if it's lower.

We have a winner! My DH sleeps well, I sleep well and I don't have all the face marks! I'm hoping that without all the marks I maybe more inclined to go to the gym 1st thing in the AM. Was quite embarrassed to do so before. I had really bad marks.

I'm sooooo glad I found this site. Thanks everyone for your help over the years!

Have a safe and happy New Years!!

Lisa

When I saw your post I thought it was about vaccum cleaners....

Seriously...I'll bet many of your leaks were because you were loosing air through your mouth. By going to the hybrid you solved that problem.

How do you lose air through your mouth with a FFM, unless you have a leak between the mask and your face?

Re read her post.....the leak was before she found the hybrid.

Yes, but she said "I've been using the RemZZZZ FF mask for quite some time," which sounds like she was using a full face mask before. It's not clear what model, since I think RemZZZZ is a pad, not a mask itself.

Lisa, what kind of mask did you use before?

Is that to differentiate from your other husband(s)?
