I guess I'm confused. Are you saying that the water from the humidifier filled your mask after the cpap fell?

Apparently the machine fell so that the water from the tank flowed into the hose and was forced into the mask by the air pressure.
So how did the machine fall? Some dream huh?

If you'd use the tape to secure the the machine to the table, instead of putting it over your mouth, you wouldn't have that problem. Be sure to use medical grade tape.

Good morning GVZ.

If know of the thread regarding suffocation, can you post? I'm not sure if you're talking about suffocation in general or the use of a FFM.
After reading this thread, its given me the heebee geebees.

Thanks.

I am glad to hear that even in that worst-possible-case scenario, NO ONE SUFFOCATED.

Good to know.

Puts my mind at ease.

Thanks.

p.s. And, wait. Doesn't the fact that no one suffocated even in that worst-possible-case scenario actually prove the fear to be wrong? Doesn't it prove that suffocating oneself with a PAP machine, even when one tries really hard to do it to oneself, is virtually impossible, even under water, on the moon, while asleep? And wasn't that the deeper, unspoken message of the original post? Ahhhhhhh! I get in now. I'm just slow. Veeeeerrrryyy sneaky, gvz!!!!

Which is why I keep my machine on the floor, I ran out of tape.

But honestly, it hasn't fallen off the floor yet.

gvc, seems to me that the theory of suffocation was just theory. Also, all the discussion primarily was centered around taping the mouth shut. In any event, your accident proved the theory deficient, since you woke up and addressed the situation. For the idea to be proven correct, as you support, methinks you might not be posting

Me too Gumby, I keep my machine on top of a chuck on the floor... no were to go but up from there! I also slide it under the bed so that nothing from my nightstand can fall onto the machine and break it. I only slide it out when I need to turn on or off and promptly slide it back under..

I have mine in a drawer in my nightstand, no problems.

I do not understand this post at all. Archangle claims using nasal pillows and tape can lead to aspiration as puke would have no where to go. All the other arguments regarding tape are lame. If your nose plugs up you will just wake up, that's what apnea is. The whole idea is keeping your airway open so you do not wake up, if you cant breath you wake up. But the aspiration was the drum archangle was constantly beating.

So you had a FFM of all things (the CURE to what archangle complains will kill you), your unit falls DOWN to the floor, you wake and put it back up where it belongs and it pushes a slug of water into your mask, you wake and remedy the situation. Correct?

Sounds like a simple case of not securing your unit by either placing it on the floor in the first place, securing it to the table or stand its on or putting it in a nightstand drawer. If your mouth was not taped shut how does your experience make archangle correct about it? One has nothing to do with the other does it? You were not using tape AND you did not suffocate so he is right that if you use tape you can suffocate?

What am I missing here?
