Neat Treatment For Apnea

Post by poppi2 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:49 pm

Dr. Ibee Grumpy has discovered the perfect equipment that eliminates the cumbersome CPAP machine.

I've put it on the list for Santa. Earl

Not sure I would want to be whacked 59 times an hour. I'll stick with my ASV,
EPAP min=6, EPAP max=15, PS min=3, PS max=12, Max Pressure=30, Backup Rate=8 bpm, Flex=0, Rise Time=1,
90% EPAP=7.0, Avg PS=4.0, Avg bpm 18.3, Avg Min vent 9.2 Lpm, Avg CA/OA/H/AHI = 0.1/0.1/2.1/2.3 ... updated 02/17/12

I've always thought it should be possible to make some kind of gadget that does something when you get an apnea that trains your brain to move the appropriate muscles. Something like a shock collar, beeper, etc.

Unfortunately, it seems no one's been able to figure out how to train the brain this way.

You could put a small pillow on the arm, then when your airway blocked, it could finish the job. Then you would be cured of Sleep Apnea, no more De-Nile. Jim

During my sleep study, I had 450 events in 3 hours, I'd need to monotor that device for overheated motors.

This device might be more useful for sleep apnea suffers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=en ... S3K9kEASOw

There have been times when I have said "for that price it better come with a hand" but I was referring to a different result.

I don't speak Japanese and my eyes are too bad to read the subtitles but...

Wasn't that device triggered by desats that have already happened (as sensed by an oximeter) and then it arouses you? So this is supposed to help...how?

That's the way my wife handled my apnea, and the reason I started CPAP. I got tired of being swatted!

When hubby's snoring woke me up, I would kiss him lightly on the lips.
He would pucker up, (in his sleep) closing his mouth;
--thus stopping the snoring long enough for me to get to sleep.
Maybe if the bear could kiss. . .

wow...just what I needed before xpap....something ELSE to wake me up when I'm suffocating! Why do they think we need a robot to swat us? Our bodies figured out how to stop an apnea by waking us up enough to breathe again--that's why we were all sleep deprived before going on the hose. Or maybe they think someone who is addled with sleep deprivation would think this might work and buy it?????

Weird. Funny, but definitely weird.

I think it's actually for enforcing compliance. Don't use the machine? You get The Pillow until you acquiesce. (claw and anti-snore pillow accessories are available for the paw, and sold separately)

I need little stilts to hold up the back of my sinuses so I don't stop breathing.
