Do you use a hose cover with the Climateline? Pretape?

Post by Lizistired » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:28 pm

I just got my climateline in the mail today. I don't normally use the humidifier but now that the temps are cooler and the furnace dries out the air, I will be experimenting with it. I had a 0.0 AHI the last 2 nights so I kind of hate to do anything that might jinx that. I'm guessing a hose cover won't hurt. I find it more comfortable to sleep with something soft.
I recall members complaining about the durability of the climateline. Is it recommended to pretape near the connectors to prevent breaks in the wire?
All tips welcome!!

I don,t cover or tape mine. it is quite durable handle it by the cuff. According to ResMed the tube wrap can be used with the slim line and the climate line .
Tubing Wrap : for use with SlimLine air tubing and ClimateLine heated air tubing 6’ (1.8 m) long, 0.6“ (15 mm) inner diameter

After my slimline tearing near the connection within 2 hours of using, hubby taped both ends with silicone tape. Every hose I've gotten since then gets taped the same way.
Haven't had a problem since.

I don't use a cover on my climateline, although I made a partial cover in thin fleece to stop the hose banging on my headboard every time I moved.

Cheers,
xena

I don't think you could hurt it by pre-taping but I've been using same ClimateLine hose now for 4-1/2 months without tape or a cover and it is fine. Since the lifespan of any hose for hygiene reasons should be around 6 months, mine is doing ok.

I have been using the same hose for over a year now and no issues. I have never taped the ends. I do have a hose cover on mine. I hate the plastic feel.

I don't cover mine as the Resmed state not to use a cover with the climateline.
I do pre tape the end with F4 tape. I've broken 2 climateline hoses at the cuff, including one that i taped. I must be heavy handed

Wow, I went to hook it up and try it out... that was a nice 2.9 hour nap!
That's sweet!
The hose is noticeably heavier.
I found this in the description for Resmeds tubing wrap...
SlimLine for use with SlimLine air tubing and
ClimateLine heated air tubing 6’ (1.8 m) long,
0.6“ (15 mm) inner diameter.
My first slimline spilt at the coupler right behind the machine so I'll probably tape this one to protect from that.
Thanks all.

I use a hose cover because I like the feel of something soft. I haven't noticed it affecting the function of the climate line in any way. I have not taped the ends of my climate line and have not experienced a problem yet. My climate line is coming up on 6 months old.

My wife has an embriodery business at home and she knows how to sew pretty well. I asked her to make a cover for my Climateline hose and she made a thin fleece like cover that goes over the hose. It didn't take much to make and was very cheap to make. It is soft to the touch.

I would highly recommend buying or making one as it makes the hose so much more comfortable when it lays on you while you sleep. I don't use a hanger with my Swift FX ... I was thinking about getting a hanger but opted to go with just the hose hanging from my CPAP machine across my body. I am a side sleeper and this setup seems to work for me. If I didn't have a hose cover I would probably have gone to a Swift LT with a hanger to get the uncomfortable hose away from me while sleeping. I have never pretaped.

After getting a Hose Buddy, I often wonder why folks "put up" with hoses being draped across their body, necks, etc... and hose management while asleep. As I started getting really good sleep, I found that I was turning over on top of the hose and ripping them up. A Hose Buddy (or other versions - some attractive ones being homemade) completely removes hose management at night. Removing hose management removes the fleece covers completely and decreases the risk of hose tears. That being said, I tape the ends of both hoses with duct tape for added security. I am probably considered one of the "sucess" stories here and though I have had issues, with the help of this forum I have worked thru most of them. That being said, in my mind the Hose Buddy was the best thing I ever bought in my cpap journey. Stop fighting fleece hose covers.

Slept great, but I had 4 really vivid dreams last night. In one a pack of dogs were running with my hose in their mouths... That explains one of those centrals!

Both of our climateline hoses are reinforced with vetwrap at both ends.
Both hoses have been in nightly use for over a year.
We don't use covers, but we do hang them overhead from fishing poles attached to hinged plant hangers on the wall.
It looks weird; but the photographers from Better Homes and Gardens have not beaten a path to our door--yet.

What is "vetwrap"? I used elecrician's tape when my first slimline leaked. No idea what F4 is.
I want to try the fishing pole trick and the plant hager, those seem perfect. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

F4 Tape is a self-fusing silicone tape designed for military and aviation use (named after the Phantom F4 jet) . F4 Tape is the new fast-fusing formula that works in minutes or even seconds, compared to the older 24 hour cure time from older technology. Use it as shrink wrap instead of shrink tubing or shrink tape.

You can remove it and re apply it easily and you don't have to remove it to wash the hose, its waterproof.

Thanks uncle bob, I think I have some of that from harbor freight. It worked great on a radiator hose with a small leak... reminds me I still need to get a hose.
Don't you stretch it to activate it?
It had a really strong odor out of the package though.
