Thanks from a new guy

Post by coglioa » Tue Dec 06, 2011 7:04 pm

Hello folks. My name is Al.

Was diagnosed earlier last month with sleep apnea and have been using my CPAP for only a week. Things have been going pretty good and my AHIs have ranged from 2.1 to 0.5 over the first week. The only difficulty I have had was the first True Blue mask I was given was a size "P" and it was too small. Went to my DME today and picked up a "S" and I am hoping that gives my nose a little more room in there starting tonight. Picked up some of the comfort items (hose snuggle, holder) and cleaning supplies (wipes, Control III) from the forum's sponsors and they seem to have helped me adjust much better.

Just wanted to drop in and thank everyone for the wonderful advice I have picked up on this forum. I am sure I will be back often to pick up new tips on my journey and ask questions when I can't find answers.

Welcome to the forum. Glad your initial bumps in the cpap road have been relatively minor. Sounds like you have a good handle on things and are off to a great start. It gets easier with time an experience.

Masks? Masks are the hardest part to all this. It's a war we truly never win completely. Always seems like there is another battle to fight.

Welcome Al!

Like you I am new to all of this as I am only 26 days into my OSA treatment. Though there are other places online that deal with OSA/Sleep disorders, this place and the great people who post here are the best! For me it has become a sanctuary from the not always understanding world of the non-hoseheads!

Great to hear your therapy is off to the right start!!

John

Same here - totally new to this, helping out my father, and so glad this site is here.

The day he got officially diagnosed, I ordered a book from Amazon. It arrived today, and yet we almost don't need it since I'd already printed up the 31 pages of "Sleep Apnea 101: New User Basics" from this site.

And the chance to read everyone else's questions and answers can't be beat.

If you want a book... try "This Book Blows" by Mike Moran. XPAP humor.
