Update on my progress

Post by Canadianguy » Mon Nov 28, 2011 5:43 pm

Hi all,

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last update, have been experimenting with different things. My first mask and best so far has been the nasal pillows, have been able to sleep all night from the start. Have AHI readings from as low as 2.5 to 13.04., with the pressure settings min.5 to 12 max. , most nights my average pressure is 8 to 10. Have some leakage but the mask leaks show a happy face on the machine, so I think most are opening of the mouth but nothing major. I have tried a chin strap but get very bloated with some pain in my stomach (I may swallow more air due to the fact I have no uvula). Due to this I was given a Quattro full face mask which the first night was 1 hr sleep and the second night I tried the seal was burning my skin. I didn’t give up easy, I tried making a mask pad, using a new baby cotton undershirt, but couldn’t sleep more than 2hrs without leaks or movement of pad and back to the burning skin. So last night I tried the chin strap again with the pillows and my AHI was down to 4.2 after 7hrs of sleep. Would like to try the Hybrid mask if I need a full face mask, or at least have one on hand for the times my nose is plugged due to a cold.

I had my titration sleep study about 9 days ago and see the Dr. tomorrow to get the results, the Tec. said the sleep study went very well and I had rem sleep. I have left the settings alone on the machine other than to turn off the ramp up and adjust the temperature for the humidity. I would really like to put the pressures closer together to see if the AHI results improve, or try the S9 in CPAP rather than APAP.

Will keep you posted as to the results of the titration sleep.
Canadianguy.

Bump; or maybe just pushing the Russian language spam downward.

I actually wish I had kept better records when I was starting out.
But I was pretty out of it.
It took me a while to get my stuff together.
