How Long is data held on SmartCard

Post by steveksmith » Fri Feb 17, 2006 12:37 pm

Hi all. I just got my reader today and everything went great on the setup. Had no problems at all and everything is connected and data downloaded. The problem I have is that it is only showing data from 2/10 through 2/16. I've been using the APAP with the card in it a lot longer than that. It seems to only be able to hold a week's worth of data or it's set to overwrite after a week or something. Am I doing something wrong? I'd like to go back for the last month. Thanks for any insite someone can provide.

Your card is working correctly, 6 days full data then overwrites the oldest, but it will show compliance data for almost six months.

Encore Pro, will erase, or not erase the card, depending on how the program is set up. Welcome to the wonderful world of information.

I'm getting nine days of detailed data so far before it overwrites. Derek's MyEncore seems to allow for longer periods...so far, I have data goining back to 1/28 with no erasures. I am coming to appreciate his graphs and the amount of detailed information they provide.

I usually generate a daily detailed report from Encore Pro and affix the Daily Report from MyEncore as the cover sheet. At the end of the week (Sunday morning) I print a week's worth of detailed data from Encore Pro and affix my usual Daily Report from MyEncore.

I plan to do a month summary using MyEncore as well.

This software really helps me get a sense of how my therapy is going. I am noticing all sorts of correlations that I find useful; for instance, I notice the days my breathing fluxuation index is down, I don't feel a well as days when I am over 30. This may not be a valid correlation, but it gives me something to consider.

I would really like to participate in a discussion as to how everyone uses the data they get from both Encore Pro and MyEncore.[/i]

Steveksmith,

Is the Encore Pro data only from 2/10 also? It is capable of reading data for 5-6 months. If it didn't show dates prior to 2/10, then you probably changed something on your machine. Some people have written that if you change from Apap to Cpap, vice versa, etc. that your card won't show data prior to the date changed. Does that apply perhaps?

Also, your card will be automatically erased unless you tell it not to erase. To get it to not erase, do this:

(Den wrote this up, thanks Den):
There's a program/file in C:\Program Files\Respironics\Encore Pro\Utilities called "Don't erase data after download.reg". Do a double-click on it and it will come up with a confirmation box.....click "Yes" and that should keep your card from being automatically erased, but you will still have to tell the program not to erase the card after you download the data (when it prompts you). Or, it at least gives you the option of erasing it or not."

Thanks all.

Linda, I just checked the Encore Pro software and it shows data back to 1/24/2006. This is when I started. When I go in MyEncore, no matter how I set it in the preferences (last 30 days, date range, whatever) all it shows is 2/10 - 2/16. I'd like to see the data all the way back from 1/24 in MyEncore. Any suggestions?

my encore reads the data off encore pro file (the NET framework is what derek used to transfer it from encore pro to my encore) so if the date is beyond the 7 days back that your XPAP machine kept records before overwriting the card, any details on that day (AHI etc) are gone and unrecoverable from what I understand

you need to download smart card at least once a week to have data that is anything but compliance hours

my encore will take any data from one patient file that is "enhanced" and work with it but if the data isn't there in encore pro I don't think my encore will be able to provide it

my encore won't work on putting together several patients files but you can take the output export it and combine them in a spread sheet such as works - I have separate patient files in encore pro for each month

steve - I suspect the data you have going back is only hours used - did you try to get a full details report for those days early on?

You guys nailed it. EncorePro went back to 1/24, but only for hours used. I guess the doctors only care if you're using it and not how effective it is. Anyway, I know now to do it once a week at least. This is really great stuff that MyEncore shows. I love the daily report. Here's my report from last night. I think the therepy is working for me, but I'm mouth breathing and have to correct this to get full benefits. Last night was with the Swift and chin strap for about 2 hours before I couldn't stand it anymore and ripped it off! Still trying to figure out what all the numbers mean.....

This is not bad, but could be better. We usually aim for an AHI of less than 5.
Fraction of Night in Variable Breathing: 11.0%
Looks like you may not have got the REM sleep you need. If I had those numbers, I'd consider bumping my starting pressure to 7 or 8cm/H2O.

Thanks for the feedback Kemosabe. I understand what AHI is, but not quite certain of "Fraction of Night in Variable Breathing". I'm assuming from your response it's a different breathing pattern that indicates what stage of sleep you are in? What number am I looking for here?

BTW, when I said I "ripped it off after 2 hours", I meant the chinstrap. I used the Swift nasal device all night. I was fine with it on my back, but do remember waking up a little when I rolled on either side to sleep. The pillow seemed to push on the side and make it feel awkward or start to leak. I can work on this....just making the comment.
