should I switch from bipast to asv?
I'm on bipapst and it is ok, I can wake up with some energy but I still don't feel normal even on oxygen. I don't have my normal energy levels and my hormones are low. I still have memory and energy problems and can't work the hours I used to.
would I be much better on ASV? my doctors don't seem to know central apneas well and I have both OSA/CSA I think.

As stated previously by several forum members.......consult a doctor....if your prresent doc isn't doing the job to your satisfaction ......change doctors.

I have seen several doctors but all the regular doctors don't know or care about sleep apnea
I tried a lower CPAP setting without O2 and it was pretty bad, I need oxygen and maybe bipap

So see a sleep doctor. Post which state you live in so that someone here could point you in the direction of a quality sleep center in your area. No one here is a certified sleep doc who can diagnose your complex issues over the computer. Let a quality sleep doc determine what you need since you are lost.Guest wrote:I have seen several doctors but all the regular doctors don't know or care about sleep apnea

What is ASV?
Re: should I switch from bipast to asv?
sickwithapnea17, hey, what's going on? Have you had a chance to get an appointment with a sleep specialist? What if all your fears are true and you are having a lot of centrals? Until you get another sleep test you'll never know. You won't know if you need Bilevel or ASV. If I were you I'd get serious about getting a real diagnosis. You could be right.
Good luck.
Good luck.

ASV is machine that monitors your breathing and responds when more pressure is needed. It is designed for complex sleep apnea, central apneas, and other more difficult breathing problems other than obstructive sleep apnea that a regular cpap or bipap machine is unable to handle.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

thanks for the replies
ever since I switched to bipapst I keep taking the mask off and don't get enough therapy hours- sometimes even when I wear oven mitts and tape them on, don't know why, ambien helps

Yep, you're in real trouble. I can only imagine how your untreated apnea (or whatever you have) is destroying your heart. Those oven mitts- can't trust them, just not enough. No commitment here, no desire to get better. You've never answred one single,, simple question that I've PMed to you even though you've responded with more questions. I'm more and more sure you are just sitting back laughing at our attempts to help you with the little information you give us. Well, it's not really feeble information, it's all made up stuff. Congratulations on taking advaantage of so many people with your drivel.sickwithapnea17 wrote:thanks for the replies

I'm glad you're finally seeing the light. SWA is mocking us. If you see a new post by this person, report it as spam.

Ameriken,
they told me that the phillips bipapst is based on the same principle as the asv but I don't feel that great on it and keep taking the mask off at night
bipapst has a bpm so I'd guess it has a back up breathing that kicks in if you stop breathing

The 4 posts you have made since joining indicate that you are nothing but a smart ass. If you have nothing worthwhile to contribute...butt out. I question whether you are really a CPAP user.
