Profile Lite Gel Mask
I've only been on CPAP for two weeks. I have a Remstar Auto w/ CFLEX. I was just curious what people think of the Profile Lite mask? My DME just gave me that mask with the machine and didn't really mention any alternatives. I've noticed browsing this forum that very few people have the Profile Lite, and there is almost no discussion about it. When I ask my DME and my RT at my HMO about other masks, they just say "That is a very popular mask, you should be happy with it." It is comfortable, and mine doesn't leak...but it's also rather heavy, and I don't really like the feeling of the air blowing over the tip of my nose. Is this just the mask they give you at the beginning because it's one of the cheapest?

I sent you a PM. (Still laughing).......

If the mask works for you, doesn't leak and you feel it is comfortable then fine because everybody has a differently shaped face. You may want to check other masks before you make a decision on this one and your DME should allow you to do that during your trial period. Proper mask fit is the single most important factor in order to stay compliant with any xPAP therapy. Do yourself a favour and try a couple of highly recommended masks if you can.

I cant believe the attitude on this entire forum.
So many slams towards DME companies, it is a shame that people have had bad experiences with theirs and of course there are several out there that are only in it only for the money but I know from personal experience that they are all not like that. I personally know of many also take pride in doing just the opposite of what others do by serving the patients with what they need to get the proper equipment and going out of their way to accommodate all.
Now before anyone thinks I am against patients learning more and taking control of their treatmen options I am not against it. I just think its unfortunate that the lack of trust in todays society towards the medical profession has greatly diminished the quality of true healthcare.

I agree, it is unfortunate. I trust the one that earns my trust, but not until then.I just think its unfortunate that the lack of trust in todays society towards the medical profession has greatly diminished the quality of true healthcare.

I'm not trying to slam my DME. Actually, they have been good to me. They were originally going to give me a straight CPAP, and when I asked if I could have an AutoPAP they said yes and gave me one no questions asked. I realize that they are for profit businesses and can't give everyone top of the line equipment all the time and remain profitable. For many people the "standard" equipment works just fine. However, if you don't ask questions and stay informed you may end up with whatever they want to give you, and not what is best for you.

I was given the profile lite gel mask with my CPAP, I have since bought 2 more. I happen to really like this mask. It does have leak problems sometimes, but, for me anyway, it's VERY comfortable and takes up little room on the face. I've got the Activa and the FlexiFit 405 also, but I keep going back to the profile lite after every other mask I try because of the high comfort level. JMO.

I also find the Profile Lite to be the most comfortable. I think I have tried every mask talked about on this board and I still end up going back to the Profile Lite. When I first got it I did the procedure to fit to your face (boil and cool etc.) Since then anytime it starts to leak I do the procedure again and it takes care of the leak. The only thing I don't like is the red mark it leaves on my forehead, but I guess it comes with the territory.

Hmm, mine does not leave any mark on my forehead. Since we seem to always go back to the profile lite gel mask, we could start our own little profile lite users club! LOL!
