S9 Air Filters

Post by tigeragent » Sun Nov 13, 2011 9:22 am

I use Apria as my DME supplier, and when I ask for replacement air filters for my S9, they do not ship me a Resmed branded item. The company they use is "AG Industries," The filter itself is thinner than the Resmed filter that came with the machine.

I assume that these thin filters will not last as long as the original Resmed product, but other than that is there any difference between the two?

I don't know about the replacements you got, but I watched Ebay and ordered 3 ResMed S9 white filters in unopened packages for $11.
I think my copay on insurance would be more than that.

I just got mine from cpap.com, the host of this forum. 6 filters for 11.95, and had a code for free shipping! I got the Disposable HypoAllergenic Filters, they are slightly thinner than the original filter but are much finer and should catch more 'stuff'. They have the regular filters for the same price. Had them in less than a week(ordered on the 4th, shipped on the 7th, got here on the 10th).

There is a big difference between the regular filters (thin, almost see-through) and the hypoallergenic ones. I really like the hypoallergenic ones - amazing how dirty looking they get in only 2-3 weeks.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I got 6 of the white S9 filters for $11 and free shipping.

My DME charges $8.00 for a replacement filter for the S9. I have started to wash the filter from time to time and let it air dry. I use baby shampoo or ivory (same as for my mask & liner) and I havent noticed any problem. The filter looks new after a quick wash. If there is some reason NOT to do this, please advise.

I was told not to wash the filter but if you are able to do it and they still look and work fine, I don't see an issue with that.

By any chance, was it the DME who advised not to wash the filter??
