stylin' CPAPs

Post by wolewyck » Tue Nov 08, 2011 6:12 am

There's an article in today's Wall Street Journal titled "Design Flair for the Least-Stylish Devices"... and includes ResMed CPAPs!

I knew they paid attention to their design, but what I hadn't known is that they have apparently partnered with Skinit, Inc., which makes covers for cellphones and laptops. People can apparently now get their S9 model in other colors, a wood-grain look, or have their own photo applied to the surface. Too funny.

Oh well, people buy houses based on the colour of the walls. If all things were equal between two machines the deciding factor is going to be "How will it look beside my bed?" or "How can I impress my one night stand with this thing?"

Just seems like a waste of money. If it were a fun thing to do for a few $$ that would be one thing but these skins are $30 and up for something that nobody is going to see but you.

The price is too high for me. I'd rather spend the money on gadgets. Just like pink won't improve my ahi.

The deciding factor in me buying the F&P icon auto was looks. Its stylish and $200 cheaper than resmed (who also wont let us ship to oz so it would have been more like $1200 more expensive)

if either of my kids ever needed to go on CPAP then it would be with an S9 along with a skinit cover of their choice.

its like the flavors they add to medicines at the pharamacy, anything that makes it easier for the littluns.

I thought my F/P 604 was really ugly and wished I could hide it. I really liked the skinned S9's (wouldn't put out money for them but if given a choice I would have picked a pretty one).

For me even having my new S9 compared to my old F/P it is the difference between feeling like I am old and falling apart and just having an interesting 'condition'. My daughter was over and saw my new S9 and said "oh. cool".

So, I think many of us are shallow enough to be affected by the appearance.
