There is no escaping the mask
There is no escaping the mask
At this point, with what few dreams I remember, I have noticed a new addition. It looks like my mask has decided to hitch a ride into dreamland with me. Perhaps it got some tips from my glasses on how to do that. The one time that I thought I might be able escape it while sleeping, I can't. Time to get used to it; I know I can do that, I already went through it with my glasses.

Re: There is no escaping the mask
I'm a CPAP newbie, and I have to say I would be super sad if my mask discomfort followed me into my dreams. You poor thing! I do have an idea of how you're feeling, though. I'm 3 days in and having some trouble adjusting to my nasal pillows. I know that I just have to push past this and get myself adjusted, though. I experienced something similar when I first got glasses too. Thankfully I just need them to drive and watch TV... But trying them out those first few days was TOUGH. It felt like something was wrong. But now I know it was just me being resistant to change. LOL.

You have one of the nicest and lightest pillows mask available. Comfort will come soon with nightly complaince. It is a time consuming process.

I didn't say that any mask discomfort followed me, just the mask itself. I'm not getting discomfort from the actual mask, now that I have the right size, properly adjusted. I'm just glad the XS rainout problem didn't come along for the ride.

Re: There is no escaping the mask
The only dreams I remembered from my first few weeks of CPAP were about my sleeping under CPAP. In each of these I dreamt that I had slept my required hours and was thus free to remove the mask. In the first of these I awoke with myself standing next to my bed having ripped the nasal pillows and chin straps from my face and hurled them to the floor, with air blowing wildly everywhere. Later versions of this dream were more controlled, as I awoke finding myself beginning to undo the mask straps at the side of my face. Fortunately, these dreams and this behavior has since ceased as my brain has become more accustomed to the new CPAP and mask sensations over the last month or so.

My mistake. I normally only desire to "escape" things that are uncomfortable. Sorry for assuming and projecting my own issues onto you.
