nose issues day time
nose issues day time
Am new to cpap. Remstar sys1. Setting on 7. Humidity on 1. Feeling as if i have a cold during day. Lots of sneezing and blowing nose. Not like me at all. Advice?
Re: nose issues day time
Some people need more humidity than others. Try turning your humidifier setting up and see if more moisture helps.
Setting of 1 is low and especially with the new S1 humidification system.
Twice I have forgotten to add water to my humidifier tank and it ran dry. Both times I woke up with miserable nasal and sinus issues. Congestion, runny nose, painful sinuses, itchiness & sneezing. Sort of like allergies but not allergies.
My body needs the added moisture. I use a setting of 4 all the time.

Re: nose issues day time
It could be that you are actually taking in enough oxygen at night now to notice you might have allergies. That happened to me. I've always had pets & never any issues w/allergies. Had tests just last week & I'm allergic to both cats & dogs as well as numerous trees I didn't even know existed! Good Luck!
Re: nose issues day time
I had something pretty similar. I was having sneezing fits during the day. My "normal" sneeze is three in a row. When I first restarted CPAP I was having 10-20 sneezes in a row and my nose was constantly runny.
It turned out to be the lack of humidification. In relatively damp Houston I only need 1.5 but in Denver I need 3.5. I just experimented with adjusting the humidifier setting and testing each level for a few days until the sneezing went away. Lowering the setting brought the sneezing back, and then I fine tuned it from there. Now it's not an issue. (I have not experimented to see if I still need it.)
I have also heard that some people react to too much humidification the same way.

Thanks so much, all, for info on turning up humidity level. Did that last night and was much better!
