Odor from Machine

Post by wattgn » Sun Oct 23, 2011 10:26 am

I have a DeVilBiss machine that is about a month old. I clean it carefully every day but tonight I woke up after about an hour asleep and noticed a strange smell. It smelt maybe oily in nature. I even got up and rinsed the mask and hosing again in soapy water but no change.

I've decided to stop using the CPAP machine until this is sorted as the smell occured very suddenly. I suspect some sort of seal has failed internally maybe allowing some sort of lubricant in or something has been damaged.

Any thoughts on this please? I am going to call cpap.com tomorrow too.

Grant

I think you are right to attend to this. Shouldn't be a smell in a newer machine. Now is the time to followup with seller.

I agree. Since the machine is so new, you should call the seller. I know there is a seal under the humidifier plate on my Intellipap. I have not replaced it, but that is one seal that you can see on the underside of the humidifier tank. There may be others. I have not had any smell from my machine and it has had about the same use. Good luck.
