Comfort Curve Nasal Interface Users Experiences

Post by slumberer » Sat Feb 11, 2006 2:22 pm

I think I've found the right nasal mask for me. While I will continue to use the Ultra Mirage FF as a back-up, the Comfort Curve nasal interface has turned out to be a great deal less noisy than the AIEOMed Aura for me; though I can see why many folks feel less comfortable with the type of seal the interface gives. For me, the small seems to work and I appreciate the three sizes being included with the mask from cpap.com.

Any other observations/experiences from Comfort Curve users?

I have not used the comfort curve but have been very curious about it. I am pre cpap right now and looking at all my options. I have a friend who just started cpap last week and he said that he did not get the comfort curve because it would have exhausted straight at his wife at night. I am wondering if this really does exhaust enough to effect the other person.

As I have experienced it, the exhaust goes down, away from anyone lying next to you. Tonight will be the first night I'll be wearing it with my bed partner. Tried it with my cat sitting next to me when I tried it this morning and if he doesn't bolt, then it must be quiet and non-invasive. He's the kind of cat mice chase!!

Slumberer, thats great! test it on the jittery cat first. . Let me know how it goes. I am doing the final dr. appt on monday and would really like to see if the comfort curve would work here. Thanks for the input. Keep me posted.

The ComfortCurve is my favorite mask too. I had almost given up on it because I couldn't get it to seal, but I kept at it. I finally used a pair of scissors and made the whole on the small nose piece bigger so I could get enough air, I ended up turning the head gear upside down, and now it is wonderful.

I just got a Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask, and I am now switching back and forth between them. My doctor prescribed a full face mask because I slept with my mouth open on my sleep study. The reason though, I had a cold.

Rita, if you look, the nasal opening between the Small and the Medium is really not that much.

You also mention turning the headgear upside down. Did you turn the mask upside too, or just the headgear. I've had trouble getting a consisten seal in the side position with the Comfort Curve, but otherwise find it very quiet and comfortable. Haven't had to use anything on the cheek pads, either.

I purchased a Comfort Curve and tried everything I could think of to keep it from leaking but nothing worked. When I did get it to work for a short time it was great, light weight, no noise and confortable. Then one side or the other would slip off the side of my nose and there was a major blow-out. I guess one side of my nose is wider or more flared out than the other so no matter which size nose piece was on it I had the same problem. I think the Comfort Curve is probably ok but my nose is not suitable for the Comfort Curve.

slumberer, here are links to a bunch of interesting discussions about the Comfort Curve. I never could get it to not leak when I'd turn on my side. Ended up being a useless mask for me, but maybe you'll come across a fix that will make it work for you. Hope so.

Janelle, I cut the opening bigger in the small nosepiece because it seemed like it was covering part of my nares and I wasn't getting enough air. After I made the opening bigger I get plenty of air from the small nose piece. I couldn't use the medium or large nose piece because I didn't get a good enoug seal.

I only turned the head piece upside down and clicked it back into the comfort curve. That worked out for me.
