My one year pre-exist is up! Hip Hip Hooray! I am now covered for sleep apnea (and related illnesses).
Of course within that year I purchased everything I needed and self-diagnosed and treated myself but better late than never!
I now have medical insurance!

Congratulations, Cuda. May you never need to use it. Except for CPAP supplies and accessories, of course.

If I may ask, how much did it cost you?
Re: I now have medical insurance!
I had insurance before, here is what happened:
I own my own business and have for 15 years so insurance is all on me. I lived in another state and had Blue Cross. It was a PPO plan. It was about $200 bucks or so a month, $1000 deductible and 80/20 after that.
Then I moved....sigh...
So I got Blue Cross in a new state but despite it being Blue Cross its considered a different company. After my sleep study they dug into the records and decided to say it was a pre-exist. They said I had to have coverage the year before my new plan for them to cover it. I provided the proof so they changed it to "we are just not going to cover it". Not much I can do, now that I have OSA I can never get a new policy on my own, I would have to sell my company and find a regular job. So instead I just waited out the one year pre-exist clause. I became very ill waiting so I spent a few thousand bucks and bought all the gear anyway.
Now it has been a year. With deductibles and such I might not save much money on supplies but I now I can see a specialist without it costing $400 bucks a visit.
The new plan, like the old is around $200-$220 a month or so. For the wife, two kids and myself we pay about $1100 a month in premiums and that goes up 5-10% a year. Usually when we get sick we pay for it all anyway because of the deductibles.
It's primary function is to save family assets in the event of something like a heart attack or other medical issue that could wipe out everything we have worked for.
In a way I actually feel sorry for the insurance company. I was in intensive care for double pneumonia a few days after my policy started and they did cover most of that.
